Keywords:
Blair (4)murderer (1)salsa (11)son (22)pencil tool (57)
Description:
Rebsie gave me some lovely plug-in software for my birthday; the Peti Harmonium.

It has this accordion sound on it that - first time I tried it - put me in mind of Cuban music so I played around with the pencil tool and in half an hour I'd come up with a snaky eight-bar line for piano, accordion and cowbell.

As an aside, it's fascinating to me how the brain absorbs and analyses music without you even being conscious of it. I've never written salsa before - (and any afficionado would probably say I haven't yet) - but it's amazing how the rhythms seem to know where to go.

Rebsie pitched in... and the results? Well, if THIS doesn't bring down the Blair adminstration I'm going to have to rethink my whole strategy...

Apologies to any Spanish speakers...

All written in Alimar-like fashion with the pencil tool...

Lyrics:
Some day sooner or later
The men will come looking for you
Some day when the house of cards comes down

Your time is up
Your time is up

(Vete para la pinga)

Some day you're going to lose your grip
Some day sooner or later they'll be knocking at your door

Your time is up
Your time is up

We don't want you any more
We don't want you any more

Some day sooner or later
The men will come looking for you
Some day you're going to wake up and find
That it's all over

(You've got to go now...)

Hey senor
We don't want you any more
We don't want you any more

Blimey, last thing I heard this was still just a work in progress and now it's finished and posted. DId I miss a day or something? Unfortunately I can't listen to it right at the moment as I'm at work but I look forward to hearing it when I get home. By then I'm expecting Blair to have resigned, his administration to be over, and the UK to have become a utopia (Wayne Rooney better be fit and ready to play by then too, but if not could you write a song about that? Now, what rhymes with Rooney...). Nice to hear that you two are continuing to put the evolving into Revolving Doris.

Well, I've heard it now and I'm impressed. I can't say that I'm any kind of expert for this kind of stuff but I'm not totally averse to a hint of Latin in my music either and this does exactly what is required of it. The potical point is made without taking a sledgehammer to the proceedings and the music stands above the message (rather than sounding naff as so many 'political' songs do; a political song still needs to be a good song first and foremost) without detracting from it. Good use of effects, instruments and voices. And, like I said before, this is clear evidence that Revolving Doris are still evolving. Another one for the forthcoming album methinks. Sorted!

Ta Mr Gibbon. Tunes have been sparse of late, but I'm glad you like this
one.

It's quality not quantity that matters. Always.

I love effected vocals. :D Fits perfectly with the playful music and the
ominous lyrics. ;)

Carumba! This is coool... be careful though, the pencil tool is
addictive.

I liked the rhythm, the relatively sparse orchestration, letting it breathe,
and the effect-laden vox. So nice to hear Rebsie Pitch In, though I
thought her singing was "dead-on" myself :-) I might have brought the
vox up a little, with them muffled like that they should have been
slightly louder I think.

And I tried to remember my one semester of high school Spanish, and I
think the transliteration of " Vete para la Pinga" is "Feet of the Penguin",
which is a colloquialism for "Cooling your heels"... wow, that's deep! :)

ttfn,
Drakonis

Heh heh. You're funny.

My Spanish is a bit like the sort of English you read on shopping bags in
Japan.

I'm told it's very rude if you're Cuban. Thanks drak.

They can stick him in the cell vacated by Milosevic.

What a brilliantly different tune that works so well. Sounds Salsa-ish to
be.

Have you heard Los De Abajo? They are brilliant at this sort of thing.

Visitors to this track may like to check out my selection of uploads
which regularly feature an anti-Blair message - and I also snipe at
Brown too for good measure.

Also check out Mando's collab with one-time MacJams genius Coutnry

Country John ran away. He was last seen in on a beach in Thailand with a big
bag of weed. We now refer to him as Out Of The Country John.

Thanks 'topo. Much appreciated.

At least you look like you might be losing Blair - we're in no such
position I'm afraid! Liked the salsa beat - the effected vocals work well
- best harmonium I've heard on MJ ; ) Best evil laugh I've heard for a
while too.
Lock 'em all up I say!

Red Horns &mdash 05/26/06 - 12:21:30 AM
Evil laugh is right. This song reminds me in flavor of Leafblower, an
interesting use of comedy to make a point. Although, now that I read
the lyrics, I can't figure out what makes the song as funny as it is. I
think a lot of it is in the delivery, the wacky cackles and the hey senor.
The song just makes me wiggle in my chair, and that's fairly hilarious
to start with.

I'm with Eppy, this one's for the next album. My only suggestion is to
reevaluate the levels on a few of the instruments. The sax in the right
ear seems a little louder than it should be and the rasp seems high in
spots. Nitpicks for a wonderful song, though.

Whatever happened to Country John?

This is such a contagious tune that it's completely impossible to keep still. I love the accordeon tune for sure.

Ewww, no thanks, we don't want Bush either. They're both a disgrace to
Western civilisation and should have their heads banged together.

Thanks for commenting!

Ha, yes, a wasted opportunity.

I wish somebody would do it. I'd love to hear the noise it made.

Oh if only it were true... &mdash 05/26/06 - 05:22:30 PM
...but let's face it, the media savvy tosser is going to retire to a lovely big house in the country and give interviews for documentaries on BBC4 every now and then. The best chance you've got is to stick his photo to yer dartboard and pray for some very British voodoo.

All that aside, yeah, yeah! A bit of a surprise from you two - but a good un'. Very very nicely done - particularly like the vocal effects - and absolutely cracking tune - I'm infected!!!

Nice samba rhythm to this song. I love Latin music and this makes me
wanna stand up and practice my steps! :-) I don't kow what political
statement this is trying to make, but it's the music I am enjoying!
