Description:
Recorded a few years back - excuse the dodgy quality!

Lyrics:
The caffetiere is empty
& I look at you
You've got food on your shirt
But I love you all the more for that

We never dance together
But you hold my hand
And you make me feel
Oh, you make me feel like I'm beautiful

It's a good day to go back to bed with you
& I don't care that we're missing the sun
And I think you should know my intentions for you
I'm not going to let you go

Growing older
Oh, we seem to be getting older
But when you look at me
Sometimes it's like I see you for the first time

The caffetiere is empty
And you take my hand
And lead me to the door

WHAT dodgy quality? &mdash 05/24/06 - 01:51:42 PM
Well, okay, there's that hiss on the recording and whatever. But wow...this is a gorgeous song. Your voice is beautiful and the playing complements it perfectly. I wonder if there's some way to clean up the recording without your having to re-record the song because I can hardly imagine a better performance.

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen, and for your lovely feedback! :)

I recorded it on an old reel-2-reel, just after writing it. I haven't recorded anything for a few years, because I got so fed up of the quality, and I'm trying to sort my PC out, so that I can record on that.

The thing is, do you find that when you re-record something, it might be better quality, but it sounds sterile, and you end up liking your scratchy version better?

Oh, well. Wish I was better at the techie stuff!

Thanks again! Gonna go listen to your stuff, now :)

Love, Jen

very pretty &mdash 05/24/06 - 02:31:51 PM
You will need to work on reducing the noisy hiss, since it does interfere
with fully enjoying this piece (if you ask for help with your setup in the
forums, you'll get a lot of helpful advice)... but the music is gentle,
beautifully played, and delicately sung. I'd like to see the lyrics posted so
I could read along, sometimes the mesmerizing quality of the guitar and
voice made me float off and miss some words :-) Nice fractal artwork
too. Welcome to Macjams!

Hey, thanks so much for listening, and for your lovely comments & advice!

I am trying to get my PC set up for recording at the mo, but I'm a bit scared of where to start. Been given some advice, but I think I'll browse the forums, as you suggested! :)

I'll post the lyrics soon - just hadn't got round to it!

Thanks again, and I'm pleased you like my fractal!

Love, Jen

Great song. &mdash 05/25/06 - 04:37:46 PM
Absolutely awesome. I understand your talking about when re-recording
you lose that "something" that the earlier recordings have. It's the human
element I think, because now with all digital, it can be perfect, almost not
human. This is a great song, very enjoyable. Perfect playing and
everything, especially when done in past years!

beautiful voice. i wasnt really overly distracted by hissing. there are some squeeks near the end but that's alright. guess my comments are about the same as the others left. has a dar williams quality to it.

Hi Jen! &mdash 04/22/07 - 01:57:29 AM
well, the hissing doesn't bother me too much (with total respect to those who do know what they are talking about regarding this sort of thing- they will help you with comments etc).
I really like the "happening at the moment" feeling that this song gives.
Really nice - Oh yes, I do like the way the vocals are a little more upfront on this song - your voice is really nice.
Thanks again
Steve

Thanks! &mdash 04/22/07 - 02:44:47 PM
Thank you very much, and thanks for listening! It's so good to get feedback.

I'm still trying to work out PC recording - I have quite a few old things that I'd live to re-record. I'm just not too good at the techie side!

Thanks again

Jen
