Big sound &mdash 05/26/06 - 07:04:28 AM
Nice melody and rich production. It has a very lush sound. The chord
sequence is lovely, though might benefit from a little more variety over
the course of the song. A nice piece though. [ Reply to This ]
Big sound &mdash 05/26/06 - 05:47:09 PM
Thank you Rebsie. I'm glad you liked the chords and and production. I did try to break it up with the short bridge and guitar solo (of sorts) but didn't want to change the flow or the mood of the song - However, I am trying to keep my newer songs a little shorter!
All the best, Peter

Wow! &mdash 05/26/06 - 09:47:22 AM
Great tuneage Peter! Reminiscent of Moody Blues and/or Pink Floyd. Love
the vox, and the arrangement is just right. Fine guitar and bass in a
balanced mix. An instant fave!
Be well!

Wow! &mdash 05/26/06 - 05:34:47 PM
Thank you for your comments - I'd never really thought about Moody Blues or Pink Floyd, but I did use a 70s Organ sound. Glad you like the overall performance and production. This was one of my first multi-track recordings and was (and still is) quite a learning curve and I've always been pleased with how it turned out. I will download your 'Cave' song when I'm back at work (I don't have broadband here) and give it a proper listen (I've been reading all the comments and am really keen to hear it).
Thanks once again, Peter. [ Reply to This ]
Lovely track &mdash 05/27/06 - 12:47:37 AM
Reminds me of the late, great Grant McLennan....very nice mix of guitars
and a poignant vocal performance
Thanks for sharing it

Very nice song. The guitar are especially well-played and recorded.
You have a very appealing voice, as well. [ Reply to This ]

'ain't a bad thing.

Nice one &mdash 05/31/06 - 01:53:34 PM
You have a lovely laidback, lazy summer-ish tune here - and your
vocals seem full of melancholy (but with a bit of an inspirational quality
too).
I find that the vocals seem too low most of the time - a little lost in the
big sounding instrumentation. Also the song stays on the same level
for much of its length which begins to drag after a while - perhaps you
need to play around with levels and amount of instrumentation some
more to make a good song a great song - I reckon you've got a
potential rock anthem in here!

Nice one &mdash 06/01/06 - 03:18:50 AM
Thank you for having a listen and for your comments. I did have a flowing, laid-back sound in mind when I recorded this one and overall I think it turned out pretty much as I intended. I’m always a bit nervous about pushing my voice forward in the mix (lack of confidence) and, as I’m not a very strong singer, it can be a bit of a battle when the background is quite busy (as it is here). If I were doing this one now I might be tempted to shorten it by a verse. Never really thought of it as a potential rock anthem - nice idea and one I’ll bear in mind… All the best, Peter [ Reply to This ]
One of the best... &mdash 07/17/06 - 04:01:23 AM
...songs I've heard here so far. :-)
It screams for distorted background slide guitars! I'd love to add them,
but my buzzing old Fender and cables don't have the quality for that,
because your mix is crisp and very good quality.
Great song!

One of the best... &mdash 07/19/06 - 05:58:27 AM
Hello and thanks for your comments and suggestions. I have been thinking of doing a new version of this one (it's one of the first multi-track recordings I did) and perhaps trying to create more of a build-up with some heavier guitar sounds. Perhaps turn it into a Rock Anthem as suggested by Komrade K. Anyway, thanks once again for listening, Peter. [ Reply to This ]
Cool &mdash 07/21/06 - 02:48:50 AM
Liked the feel of song right from beginning. Nice chord progression. Bit sad but such is life every song cant be a happy one. Enjoyed thanks for sharing. Cheery [ Reply to This ]

Thank you for listening - I like to think that, although sad, the song does have a positive message there somewhere. I'm afraid I do rather like melancholy songs, although I've been writing far more jolly, tongue-in-cheek stuff recently! Anyway, I'm really pleased you liked it. All the best, Peter. Good Song &mdash 12/09/06 - 03:55:01 PM
I really like the sound of the twelve string and electric guitar in the mix. Your voice is very good. I really wouldn't add any distorted guitars, I might go the other way and put in a piano or even a small string arrangement.
I also don't think it is too long. As they say, whoever "they" are, a good song is never too long and bad one is never too short.
Nice fade on the end.
This is a good song, well produced and well sung. [ Reply to This ]
a brilliant song &mdash 05/05/07 - 03:08:46 PM
with a great melody. NOT long at all :) but what i appreciate the most is the proffesionalism of sound. im not an expert peter, so i can not give you tips like other guys did here on macjams, but what i can say is, the melody feels great, smooth soft, so lovely to listen to and the instruments are played fantastic. great song! thank you

Crap. I love it. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the electro drums. I think a real set could add to the dynamics. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks &mdash 01/31/08 - 05:34:37 AM
for checking this one out. The drums were tweaked from a loop but they don't really do a lot - to be honest I had no idea what I was doing - and I've since deleted the loop by mistake. Perhaps one day I might dig out the backing tracks (which are on my Boss 16 track) and put into Garageband and see if anyone wants to put some real ones on it.

post was before i got here... so excuse the late comments.. but wow peter your style is just really one of my all time favorites and this tune iw wonderful [ Reply to This ]
This was &mdash 05/08/08 - 04:28:59 AM
the third track I recorded using 16 track and the first time I'd played around with a drum track (now lost). There are a few things that I might do differently (aren't there always) but overall I still remain happy with this one.
Thanks for checking this 'oldie' out Jack.
