Lyrics
Some go some stay
Thor Oliversen©2006
some go some stay
As the darkness slowly falls upon the old man in his chair,
He is looking at a photo showing him and his late wife.
The doorbell rings,
he walks to the door.
And he recognises loneliness has come to his house.
some go some stay
The lonely man reads the (news)paper every day.
Just to find one more friend passed away.
All the things he liked to do,
Will no longer bring him joy.
His bones are tired from the journey, and will not take him anymore.
Now he's tired and alone
won't find joy in anything
anymore
He is not waiting for
better times to come.
He is waiting for the boat
to take him home.
--
Now he's tired and alone
won't find joy in anything
anymore
He is not waiting for
better times to come.
He is waiting for the boat
to take him home.
some go some stay
While the days go 'round and 'round
and looking back is all there is
there's a thrill to be found
and it's something he will miss
In his little world he stays,
watching pictures from the past.
The old man’s not afraid,
he just want back what he had.
Now he's tired and alone
won't find joy in anything
anymore
He is not waiting for
better times to come.
He is waiting for the boat
to take him home.
He is not waiting for
better times to come.
He is waiting for the boat
to take him home.
some go some stay
He is not waiting for
better times to come.
He is waiting for the boat
to take him home.
yes, he is waiting for the boat to take him home.

Thor,
I can't remember your original of this, but this is very good indeed.
Like I keep saying, if there was an improvement award (for just getting
better and better and better ......) you would be first in line. This is
quite long, and I was doing something else while listening - when I
heard snippets of the song I thought I was listening to the radio (a
good station of course!).
You have a real feel for soul/R&B (in the old sense of both). I grew up
on early British R&B (as well as the obvious American bands), and this
would fit right in there.
Excellent vox, harmonies, guitar, piano/keys, bass and drums (and the
production's not bad either!). What are you using for drums?
A definite keeper.
