Keywords:
Soprano (4)Alto (7)Tenor (10)Saxophone (28)
Description:
This is my second tune ever created, and the first one in over a year. I haven't decided if I'm ever going to muck around with it any more or not, since it seems like I could spend freaking forever tweaking everything. There are a few things I could have improved upon, but for better or for worse, here it is. I hope you like it. :-)

Lyrics:
N/A

Hardware:
Intel MacMini CoreDuo, Griffin iMic, and my Shure PGX1 wireless mic. Soprano, Alto, Tenor sax, EWI

Software:
GarageBand 3

great sax licks &mdash 05/28/06 - 07:34:52 AM
If you are interested, I have a song on Mj that could use some parts like
this. I really liked the soloing in this tune. Great job

I do like it &mdash 05/28/06 - 08:38:50 PM
Good playing, good soloing. Could use a break and maybe a key
change to keep interest but a good foundation and exceptional chops.

Thank you very much - I really appreciate that.

:-)

I find Garageband to be limited in the sense that when you transpose the loops to a different key, the parts don't necessarily follow diatonically to the chord. If it did, I'd certainly have a lot more stuff out here.

I know you are one artist I will eventually listen to all of your posts.
Great drivin solo here. The "horn section" you created was simply too
much! Very cool indeed. And that synth solo, did you do that as well?
This what we shoot for (never quite get there) when friends come over
to jam. Very well done

Thanks buddy. I really, really appreciate that! *blush*

Yeah, I did the "synth" solo on my EWI (if you google 'Akai EWI', you'll get to see what it looks like - this thing is an order of magnitude more difficult to play than sax, too).

It's kinda funny how this ditty started around that. One day I pulled it out of my garage and was just playing with the built-in effects on Garageband. I happened to stumble upon a combination of a stock 'trumpet' patch mixed in with distortion, delay, and wah that I thought sounded kinda guitarish.

Normally, the EWI has a lot of volume changes depending on how hard I blow into the breath controller... and knowing that guitars don't typically play those kind of gradual crescendos/decrescendos (at least without manipulating it via the volume knob or foot pedal), I put a threshold to attack each note. (I guess in keyboard-ese, that's called 'velocity'), and that's essentially how I came up with the sound.

Truthfully, the EWI solo is probably my favorite part of the tune as well because I really get sick of my own sax playing and it was kind of a departure from what I normally do. :-)

Hey Ed.. did you do the Keyboard solo... It sounds like you may have...
It is remenicant of the way a sax player thinks... I also love the horn
section arrangements... I would love to hear more of this kind of stuff,
you certainly are on top of your craft/art... you are as good as anybodt
I've heard... Kenny Who???

Just stumbled upon your song and made me think just how cool a place MJ is when you can unearth a gem like this when you least expect.

Great work.
