Description:
i had the idea of recording a simple chord progression to work on adding a lead/melody part over it, then decided to make an entire song. so i recorded a simple chord progression, wrote lyrics, sang them and then added the melody.

Lyrics:

thanks. did it all in a few hours today. was thinking perhaps making a chorus type thing, but it was started as just something to pass time as all my recordings recently have been.

thanks, was a simple folk progression of 145 and then added a 1514 because it seemed to work even tho it wasn't the standard progression. i'm adding a key change that uses the same progression but in the key of d i think it is. shall add more onto this.

Keep working on your phrasing. Still a little uncertain. Certainly very
laid back (something I need to do...I read your comments on my
tempestuous singing. LOL). I like the little touches of fiddle. Gives it an
Irish-Emo feel. Guitar work is getting better.

oh that was a guitar with lots of reverb on it. i had just written the lyrics and were reading them when i did this take. i've added a key change, and some more lyrics onto it, but can't record cuz my computer mic is messed up. thanks for the comments.

I wasn't sure about the vocal delivery to start with, but it really grew on
me -kinda Elvis Costello-ish, and suits the song sentiment.

I like the background instrument, but feel it needs something to give ot a
little more texture - simple keyboard or string sounds? Also, I'd love to
hear some vocal harmonies on this.

a good song, well delivered - with a little work, this will be a real
heartbreaker.

thank you, yes i've added alot more to this but my computer mic is broken so can't re record it at the moment, i added a key change and some more lyrics. i want to add a piano part, but my keyboard is screwed up, but hopefully i will have money this summer and can get a better one. this was the quick sketch, and now to get new recording stuff and flush out the full song.

Nice recording.
Ok, so maybe it is the genre, but the out of tune singing kind of turns me
away. I'm sure about 10,000 people could tell me I'm stupid and every
should know it's part of the style, oh well that's just me I guess.
Since I've heard you last, you've gotten way better.

hehe thanks. i thought the melody sounded cool with lots of distortion and reverb, gives it a sort of violin effect. id be recording but mic not working :/

thanks, i'm really anxious to get a better recording with what i've added and get my new recording stuff. i think this could turn into a great track. may go all out and even add some keyboard to it if i can get a better one that tunes properly.

Great job on this track. I can just say right now that new recording
equipment (possibly a nice interface and mic) would improve the sound
quality greatly. You say you're getting some new stuff?

It's a very nice piece. Mellow and melancholy. Keep it up. I love this
version, but I can't wait to see the next one you've been talking about.
