keep on truckin' &mdash 06/01/06 - 03:59:20 AM
Some years ago I visited the u.s.a with my former boss. We rented a Cadillac and went cruising through some of the states. This captured much of that feeling. And that was one cool trip:)
The occasional sweeps of strings or synths you brought into it is like other cars or trucks passing by and maintained the driving feeling. Good stuff Bill:)

Excellent performance... goes without saying, really:)

And the artwork is right on!

Wonder how you do that... in about every song there is a sense of
smoothly swirling color and motion.

You named it well.

A nice trip down &mdash 06/01/06 - 09:14:22 AM
the acoustic highway. Wonderfully played as always Bill. I too like the little touches of strings...just a subtle spice in the acoustic mixture.

Your time is so effortlessly smooth... &mdash 06/01/06 - 07:29:19 PM
...here, even 'light' or bouncy or something... The tune has great motion,
never sounds strained or like your hustling to get all the notes in...

Your tone is impeccable as always. Great ringing tones from the guitar.
The whole piece is very musical and interesting.

Ed

Thanks Ed, I guess I was inspired by Leo Kotke on this one. I don't think i've
developed his wittness on stage like he has yet :)

Beautiful &mdash 06/02/06 - 02:03:03 AM
Man, you're a beautiful player. I haven't listened to Leo Kotke for about
30 years, but I used to love the guy. I'd say you're at least as good as he
is. It's a pleasure to get to know you're music.

Cruisin'! &mdash 06/03/06 - 02:51:42 PM
Thanks TC, I am not sure if I orginally intended to make the chord structures for
the strings. But I left em in cause it had kind deminished feel to it.
Thought it added a bt of unusual flair. At least I hope it does to listeners ears.

Happy &mdash 06/05/06 - 04:28:22 PM
Man, you really know how to construct a song. You never overuse or
underuse any idea -- it always feels just right. And your ideas are so
inventive! It's a really happy tune, mostly; sounds like it's filled with
optimism. The only thing that for me didn't work as well as the rest is
the way the MIDI strings sneak in periodically. In your recent tracks
you've been doing this integration of strings and guitar really, really
well, but on this one it felt like a bit of an afterthought, and it was a bit
unexpected.

On the other hand, my absolute favorite moment came at roughly the
half-way point, when you you have this strange-sounding, broken
chord that descends by steps; the lick was powerful, and a little wacky,
and I loved it.

Another Beaut &mdash 06/05/06 - 08:16:59 PM
Mighty fine playing, Bill. I'm a sucker for Kottke-esque tunes and there aren't very many players who are capable and qualified. You are.

Way to drive home (pardon the pun) that steady cadence with the upper and lower D pedal tone. It keeps the song rolling right along.

Sounds like you're preparing for your trip to Peachtree City.

10s/fav/keeper:)

Notso, thanks I get a big kick picking out pics for tunes. I sure didn't realize that
it would be that much fun when I first came here to macjams. But picking out
pics is half the fun!

Thanks for stopping by.

A piece worthy of being added to my constantly growing Bill Furner

Chicken picken heaven my west coast snaggler! Nice piece of iron and wood! Nice chord work too! Sounds like you broke out of your comfort zone! Sounds like a little variation of some nice jazz chords! Would like to hear more of that!

Truly love what you are doing. I think the true reward is to seek beautiful music.
That makes fingerpicking fun. Strive for katchy-ness. If you are just learning,
playing the nytlon string first would be much easier. Then when you feel
reading for the steel string thing.

Good luck

Thanks much for the post!
