Description:
The is the second collaboration released between Packosmokes and myself. Its a ground-up remaster of the orginal with all new vocals by Packosmokes. The new vocals infuse a lot more energy, and I feel this mix is in a substantially different place than the previous cut. We're looking forward to jointly releasing a lot more tense-themed collaborations.

Lyrics:
Nothing left astounds me. Nothing more will draw my eye. Mediocrity defines me. Languid on my way down.|| Burning bridges choke me. Burning temples, clouded sky. Silver strands are severed. Road goes on before me. || Voices hold now sway now, I've sapped the walls and torn them down. Horizon runs forever. Never felt so all alone. // Gotta get up now. Gotta get up now. Gotta wake up now. Gotta clear my eyes and stand. || All that must be true, Essential choices. Something at the center, Shining through the pale. // Unknown is hard to swallow. Life seems too big without a guide. The only way to know truth, Is to look it in the eye. || Can't wait too long for this too to pass. Feeling too strong yet to breath the last. || Sacrificial lambs all slaughtered. No more to hear that hopeless cry. You're left to crawl and cower, Now they see your tragedy. || Turn my back to false hope. Turn my back to shining lies. My life is my own now. Not afraid live or die.

Excellent &mdash 06/21/04 - 08:57:13 AM
This is near perfect. Without being redundant (lots of
praise above me here), I have a tiny critique (cuz I'd love
for the track to be perfect perfect). There are a few rare
moments that notes are sung a tad flat (especially the first
bit of a syllable, and I don't mean to criticize the cool way
you sing the song, cuz I love your stylized singing). Becuz
you're obviously a really good singer, you could re-sing a
few notes (the first time "all" alone is sung; "stare" is sung;
"in" the eye; and the first part of your first "last" and
"stare"). They way these are sung at the end are perfectly
pitched, like they way you sing the word 'Pale", which is
great, perfect and stylized and full of energy. Of course, I
may be the only person who thinks this. When I helped
produced albums in the 80's, I always brought these
moments to the attention to the band singers (it is one of
my pet peeves, even tho i can't sing well enough, myself,
to satisfy my own peeving)) and they re-sang to see which
they would like better (with mixed results... since if the
re-sing didn't have the same or better energy, we opted
for the slight out-of-tune if it communicated meaning or
energy better). Just thought I'd bring it up. Great track.
On my favorite list.

Dunno about Tool &mdash 06/22/04 - 06:09:32 PM
Never heard them (sorry, too old) but you DO sound a lot
like The Cult (Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy...anyone?... had
an album called Electric Lady land....oh well maybe it's just
me) They were really big in the UK. Had a very US type
sound. These vocals sound a lot like Ian Astbury.

Started off Goth as Southern Death Cult, Changed their
name to The Cult and got progressively rockier until they
covered "Born to be Wild" and just seemed to stop.

Anyway, you sound like them and I liked them so I like
this.

Cool.

Dunno about Tool &mdash 06/22/04 - 06:14:45 PM
sorry Electric lady land was of course Mr. J. Hendrix (ahem, must get some
more sleep...) The Cult's album was just called "Electric, and one was called
Sonic Temple etc.etc.

i see the tool-ness &mdash 07/15/04 - 04:20:32 PM
i really liked this, and like theyve mostly already said,
very tool like, but its really good though so, good job

like it &mdash 07/23/04 - 01:01:35 AM
nice tune. i like the vocals (i'm a TOOL fan), but
wondering if just a little bit of synthesis on the voice
would roughen up things a bit. not overdone or anything,
just a hint here & there, or maybe an occasional echo or
something. just an idea-all of the sounds have a real nice
edge to them, the vox just sound a little too "clean" to me.
might give it a completely different feel

toolishly good &mdash 08/02/04 - 02:52:49 PM
I liked that one! Again reminds one of the great tool!

Ahh, for the loop naysayers... &mdash 09/04/04 - 04:48:01 PM
I used some of these drum loops and i believe one of the
guitar loops on one of my pieces... and they don't sound a
thing a like.

Good song. Very Tool, and if you're gonna be compared
to someone that's a good one.

Eights across the board.

Yeah &mdash 10/06/04 - 05:21:00 PM
it sounds like Tool and you're probably sick of
hearing that, but it really is a complement. Nice
vocals by Packo. I don't know who did what on this
but nice job to both of you.

Pretty good. You need someone else singing though,
uuuhhh.

Can I be your groupie? &mdash 11/18/04 - 04:30:41 AM
not sure abou tthe santana style guitar riff towards the
end of the song, it feels a little out of place. It's a great
song if feels a little too reminicent of somthing I've heard
before. I think the bass line is whats doing it, I remeber
hearing the exact same line somewhere before and it
makes the rest of the song a little bitter for me. Now, if I
were a good monkey I would tell you what song I've heard
it in, but of course my memory is failing me. Despite all
my critisizing, I really enjoyed this piece. Tense Rocks!

Just found... &mdash 01/17/05 - 05:56:38 AM
this gem! Love the structure of the song. Strong vocals
and screaming guitar. My favorite combo! Strong lyrics.
Agree with the vocal sounding Cult-like, listen to Fire
Woman and you'll know what I mean. Downloaded and
added to faves.

Aye it's great. &mdash 07/03/08 - 10:06:30 PM
and I'm not gonna say it sounds like Tool...

...hell yeah I am, it does a bit but you definitely have your own style which shines out stronger. Talk Talk - that's it! You have a little of them too. Both great (and very different) bands for you there.
