Description:
This is a song that I composed in June 05--My first work using symphonic software instruments (JamPack 4: Symphony).
I've gone back and revised it, added bass strings, tightened up some timing faults, and tried to get the violins to sound less 'synthy' in the mix.

Enjoy...

Hardware:
MacMini, iBook, MAudio 61es Keystation

Software:
GarageBand 2
JamPack 4 Symphony

Relaxing &mdash 06/04/06 - 11:03:53 PM
Like a spring morning without clouds.

Wonderful &mdash 06/05/06 - 06:27:23 AM
Yes, like a spring morning Cat. But I see puffy white clouds here and
there, brightly lit with their purity, lifting me gently above the mundane as
I think about the one I love. :-)

God bless,

Rick

Peaceful... &mdash 06/05/06 - 07:16:45 AM
Maybe I'm weird, but I don't see a Spring day in hete. This makes me
think of a beautiful, colorful sunset. I'm watching the sky change color
throughh the trees and then fading out as night comes in. Beautiful...

Well &mdash 06/05/06 - 10:56:51 PM
I can certainly see the sunset, but this immediately reminded me of hiking up Turkey Mt. in New York... you know, a nice walk through the woods with all kinds of interesting things along the way. The picture only cemented the image. Very skillful use of those instruments, sounds great!

came a beautiful sound &mdash 06/06/06 - 02:24:57 PM
if this was yur 1st, I can only imagine what will follow. simply beautiful,
well paced, well written and the mix is excellent. particularly liked the
melody, the supporting "plucked" strings are wonderful. its melancholy
to me. could be me, very beautiful. thinking of adding your voice?

You know it's a lovely piece of music... &mdash 06/09/06 - 06:17:29 AM
...when you go to download it all over again, not realizing that you
already DID download it days ago...

You have a nice sense of how to arrange different timbres in the midrange
to produce a lush, rich tone, nothing fighting or obscuring another line or
sound. Everything has its place and nothing is in there taking up space.

Nice, slow sense of melody...

What Mungo said... &mdash 06/09/06 - 07:50:21 AM
...except I see clouds - a bunch of 'em, actually; Huge banks of white
fluff covering the sky.

I like clouds...

Erm - anyway. I think I'm not lying to you when I say that the earlier
version is the first Mystified song I heard when I signed up, just over a
year ago. I loved it then, and I love it still - perhaps even a bit more
this time.
It's just so calm, soft and relaxing - that's why I see the clouds in my
head.

Gorgeous.

Delicate and beautiful &mdash 06/11/06 - 04:29:03 AM
Very affecting opening - I guess there are places where the strings still
sound a bit synthi (mainly when they're playing high) but frankly it doesn't
matter in that it didn't ruin my appreciation of your piece at all. I love the
way you've balanced the plucked and sustained strings, how they weave in
and out of one another - the whole thing seems very sensual to me!

Sunrise on Glen Coe &mdash 06/26/06 - 05:20:30 PM
Yeah this really works...beautiful affecting opening gambit that flows
forth. Your production technique leaves me feeling I'm not putting the
hours in. Don't you just love JP4? Maybe one day we can emulate
Composer Clarke and get an Orchestra involved. Hmmmm......

woah &mdash 07/07/06 - 06:11:08 PM
i'm on cape cod.
the morning light has awakened me.
the birds are singing,
the surf is beckoning me.
i crawl out of my canvas cave,
and walk to the sea.

the sky is turquoise,
with streamers of pink.
the sand under my feet feels real.
a branch blocks my way,

and i gently brush it aside.

and there: the sea.
the waves calmly rolling in.
and i feel.
alive.

beautiful but sad &mdash 08/26/06 - 05:03:57 PM
Funny and wonderful how everyone's describing scenes they see as a
result of hearing this music. For me there's a definite tinge of sadness,
longing, wistfullness, etc. But very pretty none the less.

Beware, old masters! &mdash 09/06/06 - 11:00:22 AM
This is a great piece of classical music, any standards! I am impressed
that you can keep it so varied, jet coherent in every way, so soft and calm
but still in no way boring. Very inspirational! Thank you!
