Description
When William was a young boy his father took him to his first piano lesson. During that first lesson he learned about Middle C on the piano. He was transfixed that he could make such a beautiful sound with just the touch of his finger. That was also his last lesson because his teacher was arrested shortly afterwards for child molestation. William was hooked on music however, and endlessly practiced what he had learned at that sole lesson . He was determined to make music his life. William soon learned that playing Middle C on the piano was not going to bring him fame. He needed to expand his musical skills. So he taught himself to play Middle C on the electric guitar, the Hammond Organ, A Roland Synth, an electric piano and even the Vibraphone. (Some of these he found very easy because they were similar to the piano). Several years later, however, William found himself still struggling with a career that was headed nowhere. He was working as a solo act in a small club on the edge of Greenwich Village when one night the legendary bassist Buddy Buffington and Desmond Decker, the renowned session drummer, dropped in and then sat in for the remainder of the night. The rest, as they say, is history. The synergy among the trio was said to be electric and soon the critics started to sit up and take notice. Shortly after they first played together ,the trio made an appearance at a benefit for abused husbands at Carnegie Hall. The concert was secretly recorded by New York Post critic Harvey Wisenstein. The recordings have surfaced after Wisenstein was murdered in his apartment by his wife. It is the only known recording of the One Note William Trio. As you know, William was lost at sea while working a gig on a cruise ship shortly after his Carnegie Hall Appearance. A loss to the music word ... but now we can hear what few have heard before.

Go Bill!!
I love the story, it's really cute. The music is great, too. It's amazing what
you can do with one note and good back-up players.

cool bass, and the resto neat as well.

Thanks much for sharing

The jazzy funkyness is very cool, the bass really seems to stand out big.

Cool
Very brilliant. Where do the bass licks come from? Pretty heavy as the
Tiler remarked. Aw damn I have to go to bed. Cool tune. And cool story.
Fun.

Cool
Thanks ... I've been a fan of Buddy Buffington's bass work since the early days
when he played with the Cannibis Cannibals and later when he played with
the Munder Funkers. Here he sounds a lot like the apple loops called upright
funk bass.

Very clever
Especially with the set-up with the back story. The rest of the instrumentals are really hopping all around the rhythm provided by the rather focused, shall we say, soloist.

Brilliant. Love that bass work especially.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

Be well,
Doug

thanks Doug
There are times that I still get a smile when I listen to this one because it was fun to try to build a song around a one note melody.
