sunday chat with the big guy (1)
Description:
this is the closing track from the new CD. It really sounds nice in the full aiff...

I tried to write a traditional blues tune in the vein of the BB King songs I have loved forever.

My Brother Bryan Bishop plays bass beautifully on this track, giving it the nice slow simmer it needs.

I hope you'll grab a copy of THE ROAD AHEAD from thelostrecords.com....or soon on iTunes.

Thanks to Alimar for the crickets

I'm &mdash 06/09/06 - 09:24:32 PM
no guitarist, but I imagine I'd be playing blues on Sunday morning too. Just not nearly this good.

getting this track from you some time ago.
I liked it then and I like it now.

I really gotta get my hands on that CD of yours....

Excellent!

controlled fills, nice backround and of course cool BB feel.

This brings me back to Winderland in SF when there was so many blues
artists like Albert King and the list goes on.

WAy to go

Ah, sing it, Ruby... &mdash 06/10/06 - 11:06:36 AM
I'm hearing this song first thing Saturday morning (close enough), and it
sounds just right.

Like all your stuff, this is infused with soul, heart, and tremendous skill.
It's inspirational to hear a guy who has worked all his life to master his
instrument. Makes me want to go practice...

Thanks for giving us this teaser track to your CD, which I will buy a copy
of today.

Sunday Morning Sermon by Ruby &mdash 06/11/06 - 01:13:22 PM
you laugh, mystified, but it is a true song. i have incredible luck recording on
sunday morning, i never thought of it as ruby giving the sermon, but i love
that analogy...the solo in this took a whole week to record. I always try to
keep my tracks as single takes cuz i really dont enjoy the splicing part. I
played solo after solo and threw them all out. Finally i decided to just wait til
sunday morning, and bingo...one take. thank you, jesus!

God must really love music. Think about it...he calls all the geniuses home at
a young age...there is music in every culture on the planet...there is a section
of the brain reserved exclusively for musical memory...and i think God likes
blues. Maybe God enjoys to keep his music simple, cuz he has so much other
crap on his plate.

I really tried to sound like a traditional blues recording on this track...like a
band. Having my wonderful bassist Bryan Bishop play the vital bass part
really helped get a band feel.

Thanks mysti for all the ongoing encouragement and inspiration.

ziti.... masterfully done on that blues axe of yours. Soulful... from
within passion.... expressed in each note played, each string.

Such an authentic song, Very nice guitars and progression. I like when the bass comes in. very sweet. The lyrics and lyric concept are excellent. I have to bring up the way you sing the song. It's a sweet quiet song, but you approach it with lots of bravado. Almost as if you want to present a 'voice' that you like, maybe not yours exactly and, in my opinion, not the one that is meant for this tune, Think about your guitar phrasing in the solo area. The gentle tones. That's the vocalization I believe you should strive for. It's a quiet Sunday morning, but you sing like you just busted your britches in the cathouse, if you know what I mean. You should be singing like one of those crickets . Whispery. Parts of the song you do sing very nicely and it fits very well. You have a very nice voice. I think you need to sing more.

bluz &mdash 06/13/06 - 06:13:26 PM
thanks alley...you have always given me good advice. I always look forward
to hearing from ya. Learning how to sing in the studio is hard...live, I dont
seem to have to much trouble, other than i cant play and sing at the same
time, and my vocal range is about 5 notes...but in the studio i find it totally
unnerving! I don't know why, but i just cannot get comfortable....i dont really
hate the way i sound as much as i used to, but still i cannot get a grip on
standing in this little room....singing....one thing is tho...this pretty much is
my voice, pretty close to how i sing live...i think. Maybe we could ask ejh or
karmatoburn their opinion, as they have heard me sing live....anyway, thanks
for taking the time for a listen...and how's that PRS treating ya?

I do not understand English lyrics.
However, your voice is wonderful.
And, your guitar is wonderful.

Are photographs 335 models?
Good guitar.

the Photo is my 1968 gibson 345. I bought the guitar in 1973. I played it for
many many years on the road with different bands I have been. Her name is
JULIP...it is a stereo model and she sings very sweetly. Her age has given her
some trouble, and she does not like to stay in tune much anymore. I could
get some work done to her and bring her out to play now and again, but I
think she has earned her retirement. She just sits in a stand now, looking
pretty.

The poster was created for the MJ gathering we had at the SitnBull Club a
while ago.

If I get a moment tadashi, I wil type out the lyrics, maybe the computer can
translate. But the song is about the power of prayer. I think!

warmest regards
z

This guitar has moved also in to the photograph of your "I' d Soonah Rhumbah".
I misunderstood it with your new love guitar.
I understood from your answer.
Very beautiful painting.
Brown is beautiful.
The tone must be also beautiful.

You talking about the 345 has made me pick and up and play her again after
many years...and I plan on recording with her very soon!

Very nice guitar playing! Nice bass work too. Your guitar playing reminds
me a lot of Robben Ford. Very nice phrasing. The only criticism I can
think of is the vocals are a tad louder than they need to be, but everything
sounds really good!
