Description:
Here's yet another selection from a live recording of a rock opera entitled, "Hypothesis". This is the finale of the show. Oddly enough this tune was written years before I even started work on Hypothesis. It was always a bit too "preachy" for me but in this context it seemed to work really well. For more info on the opera, goto: http://www.hypothesis-rock-opera.com This tune features Bryan Pitt, Michael Brix and BJ Johnson on the solos with the whole cast coming in on the chorus.

Hardware:
4 Adats, a large stage and a few hundred people in the audience

Great chorus &mdash 06/22/04 - 08:10:56 AM
Very strong, well mic'd and well arranged chorus work,
with a nice hook. This song has a wonderful Stephen
Schwartz feel. I really like when the band drops out and
the the chorus sings nearly a cappella, then repeats. If
only the soloists were mic'd as well as they were. "We
found the truth in liars" is nice. Too bad you cut out the
clapping at the end, tho... sounded like a good audience!

Good song and performance! I agree w/Tobin that it
would have been nice if the soloists had been as well-
mic'd as the chorus. But the whole effect of this song is
excellent; good writing and execution. Lots of interesting
ideas and textures.

Hey thanks for the comments! Yeah - the levels on the soloists were much less than desirable. That's the biggest problem with doing things live! I'd love to just re-record the whole thing. Though I'll have to wait for either an 1) interested artistic director (yeah right!) or 2) a big lottery win! to do that!

This ISN'T Tobin? Just kidding. Same genre of music,
kinda. This is really live? Really? This is pretty good for live
stuff. I love the chorus of singers. Rockopera to the MAXX
dudes. How did I know Tobin and Cameron would be the
first to comment on this? It's totally not in my league, but I
can appreciate some of the compositional aspects, and it's
produced very well considering the scale. Great job.

kindly kind,
mister fosod.

No apology needed &mdash 02/11/05 - 06:57:45 AM
Too bad everyone isn't issue one solid mic at birth, then
we could all be heard with clarity at moments like this. No
apology needed....
