Description
This is a guitar instrumental Jim had around for a while that Kelli added her vocals to; and then the whole thing turned into some weird amalgam of Garbage and Oingo Boingo...

Lyrics
SLAMMER-

Where you going
where you going
so fast?

Sub-atomic missle
with a rocket blast

Everyone says
they hate
see you go
but they're
gonna have to
miss you cause
you're part of the
show
and sooner
or later
we all have to go
it alone.

How's it going
how's it going
so far?

Further than
you thought
and you were
so smart.

It's not at
all like you
thought it would be
you're a
scared little kitten
caught up in
a tree and
sooner or later
we all have
to come down.

What's taking
What's taking
so long?

You were in
a hurry
but your turns
were all wrong

Don't look
at me baby
it's not up to me
nothings fair
nothings free
try to stop
crying and
put a smile
on your face.

Don't dispair
Be prepared to stop
roadwork up
ahead
watch for falling rock

Where you going
where you going
so fast?

Sub-atomic missle
with a rocket blast

How's it going
how's it going
so far?

Further than
you thought
and you were
so smart.

Whatcha doin'
whatcha doin'
wrong?

I like it
of course like any multi tasking computer geek i wrote the comment before I had finished listening to the tune. I was completely taken by surprise by the shift in the middle. It reminded me of a beatle's white album type of psychedelic evolution. I especially enjoyed the random orchestral elements at the very end. Your voice straddled the two worlds exquisitely.

great
What great production. Super performance on that geetar with groovy energic drum choices.

It might be a tad to energic, kind of running at full speed all through the song. Even though it slows down at parts i think a conrast to the crunchy sound would be a nice green field in the middle of the city shape concrete. Just a few bars from an acoustic instrument or a clean sound from that les paul, could be just what I wish for.

But that's just me. I'm very impressed with the pro performance and production. Kelli's vocals and lyrics is fitted just right in this. Good message and a treat for the ears.

Thank you guys:)

oh yeah
This is one of those rare occasions that rather than use my amp and pedal
setup, I used the GB amp sims. But like usual when I do that, I used the Tone
Heaven presets, which are just the standard GB effects that have been
tweaked a lot and saved as presets that simulate classic guitar tones. In this
there's one track that's called Analog Kid and one called AC-30 Lead. It's
actually one guitar part in stereo but because of the different overtones, they
sort of sound like 2 different parts. It's a DADGAD tuning and a sort of loose
improvised structure. I'd cooked up this instrumental but couldn't come up
with my own vocal, and since Kelli usually knows exactly the right thing for
my music, I was glad I finally sent it to her, because this came out even better
than I ever imagined!
Thanks, McB!

Lo-fi forever
Nicely sung and played. I enjoy the dark guitar sound. Not exactly hi-fi,
eh? Is the compression of the drum track deliberate? It sounds a bit
overboard, but it's a cool effect. (Try to find a 70s track "Forever and ever"
by Silk; they also use that pumping compression sound as an effect.)

Lo-fi forever
Whoops! I think the whole thing is a little overly compressed, and in some future
mix I'll back that off a little bit. sort of peaking out, I think... But overdriven rock
is meant to be so, perhaps. thanks for the comment!

Before I push anymore buttons
I already know that it's good - And as different as this is for you guys,
I'm not the least bit disappointed - I love this sort of eclectic raw
driving electric folkn' roll - Man, I love your vocal work too, Kelli -
Diggn' the guitar. the weird synth and percussive stuff on this too -
However this came into existence, it ended up being very well done -
Thank you guys! Dion

Good.
Really good. I really enjoy your work. It is very well mixed and put
together. This is different than some of the others, but I like it. Good.

Gee, I just fav'd you guys...
...and here you are.

And now for something completely different.

Definitely a Sheryl Crow-ish vibe to this. Fun to listen to. I bet it's great
blasting out of the stereo in a convertible with the top down...

On my system, which may not be universal, my only critical possibility
is that the vocal seems somehow to be sitting on top of the
instrumental mix...But it's a great vocal and it's a great instrumental
mix...

Very cool.

Gee, I just fav'd you guys...
Actually, look for a revised version with a totally new mix and, according to Kelli,
new vocals... but thanks for the compliments... I've been groovin' on this!

rock on
I like the guitar sound and the drums sound live, very good production and mixed well.I would like to hear Bonnie Bramlett, Tina Turner or Ronnie Spector sing this song, to give the vocals more raw rockin soul, smart lyrics.

Full of attitude. What a fun track.

All the sound textures are wonderful. I especially like the synth work and layers. Very atmospheric. Love the musical wit with the ending.

The singing is great. The low "Whatcha doin'"s are a nice unexpected touch. But once I was tantalized by them, I was looking forward to a high pitch wail to cap the song off -- but it never came. :(

Enough of my whining. Wonderful job.
