Description:
New vocal recording, remixed. I hope this sounds more polished.
Still a song about regret. I still think it's a useless emotion - time waster.
Lyrics:
Words and Music By Charlie Chen
We wear memories around our necks
Like a string of precious stones
Basking in the glow of the past
A halo with sacrificial tones
Forever longing to rise and fly
With the angels we haven’t met
Polish the stones and shed the light
Remove the dead weight of regret
Sapphire and jade
For the debts yet to be paid
Oh, the memories are beginning to fade
The purple one here to heal our souls
Rubbing it gently with hopeful care
But all it reflects is the pain
Distortions of what wasn’t there
Oh, the angels with pearly wings
Happiness in their amber eyes
How do we too achieve this flight
With hearts full of heavy sighs?
Diamonds and rubies
As precious as apologies
Slowly chipping away the memories
Priceless nights and silent goodbyes
Letting go the gems of yesteryear
Earthbound desires to fill the days
To appease the inner god of fear
Sapphire and jade
For the debts yet to be paid
Oh, the memories are beginning to fade
Diamonds and rubies
As precious as apologies
Slowly chipping away the memories

Charlie - a beautiful track, with another focused and polished lyric. Great
production, really crisp and clean. I love the oriental-style instrument
panned to the right, as it reflects the thoughtful mood of the piece.
It strikes me that your voice is really unique - the more I listen to your
material, the more it really sticks out - it's quite unlike anyone else, and
that's a rare thing. Thanks for sharing this. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for the feedback. The Chinese Ehru is such a haunting sound. I thought it'd be fun to use it in this. I like the idea of using untraditional instruments in places one wouldn't normally expect.
Thanks again for listening and commenting. Cheers.

Hi Charlie:
I like what you've done to this song. Especially the Choir and the Eru.
I see this song like in the beginning of a movie when the titles are
playing. Perhaps as a character puts on their jewelry for a night out....I
like the way your music flows and crescendos. I think you write some of
the most beautiful and lush music on this site.....Updated my download,
thanks, Norman [ Reply to This ]

Thanks, Norman. I'm happy you think that this is an imprvement. The voices at the end I added for some extra dramatic flair. I was a little worried that they may be over the top. But considering the "angel" imagery in the lyrics, I thought that some angelic voices fit the bill.
Thanks so much for your encouragement and support.
Cheers.
