Description:
love song ballad

Lyrics:
I was lost
Adrift upon a deep black stormy sea
So tired I could not keep myself awake

I was dead
My heart was cold and yet I seemed to breathe
My hands were numb I couldn't seem to leave

So afraid
The loneliness consumed me once again
So slow I'd fill my shoes with lead

So obsessed
My mind was doing circles around my head
So weak and sore I couldn't leave my bed

You rebuild me
Demanded I be strong
Brick by brick
Wiped away my tears
Stone by stone
Taught me how to see
You rebuild me

Should have known
But couldn't hear the voice surrounding everything
Had no idea the sun could be so bright
Desert flower
Taught me all I know about myself
Reflected light from something more divine

You rebuild me
Demanded I be strong
Brick by brick
Wiped away my tears
Stone by stone
Taught me how to see
You rebuild me

Clouds separated
And the rain stoppped pouiring down
Took me from shallow darkness
When you called my name out loud
And it's you that I need
To keep me steady on my feet
You've given me
The strength that I need!

Fantastic pop country ballad of joy and rebirth &mdash 06/27/06 - 06:46:00 AM
Excellent feel, sound, groove, message, performance, build. I would have
gotten to your variations a little sooner in the tune, cut a few of the first
section verses perhaps ("so afraid..."/"so obsessed" could be
consolidated, or pick one or the other too keep), cuz in my ears it takes
too long to get to the best of the musical things you end up doing. This
is not a repetitive song, yet the opening seems to be setting up a
repetitive song. Like the best of the Dixie Chicks, this is moving,
intuitively ethereal, wonderfully arranged, performed perfectly, lush and
warm, full of past sorrow that has formed the foundation of hope and joy.
This track is fantastic. I am moved. (I would also cut the rain at the end,
which detracts from the uplift I felt.) Excellent, again.

Sweet and strong &mdash 06/28/06 - 11:08:15 PM
This is a really polished piece of work - great production, fantastic vocals.
There's a wierd tension between the verse, which is kinda down, and the
chorus and bridge, which are more positive, musically and emotionally.
I can only imagine that I'll be hearing this on the radio in a fwew months -
it's that good.

Better than whats on the Radio! &mdash 06/28/06 - 11:11:29 PM
Great job on this. Did you do the background too, or do you have a
back-up band? Very professionally done. The song seems to expand in
layers and get ever more lush as it goes on...I wish you would post the
lyrics...Sounds like this was done in a pro studio. Was it? Anyway a
definite download for me, thank you. Keep up the good work....Peace,
Norman BTW two 10's and two 9's from me.....

Clearly... &mdash 06/29/06 - 09:57:46 AM
Mitra is on a professional course.

Any PR "bio" that includes phrases such as "...artistic sensibility
stretches the confines of contemporary popular music defying cultural
and idiomatic boundaries..." and "...This is a woman whose music
builds from jazz and R%u2019n%u2019B roots to a world music emotional intensity,
that coupled with a polished, commercially appealing production
aesthetic..." is obviously in the hands of marketing people. ;-)

And I'm fairly confident this is studio material.

Having said all that, I like her work. It *is* very well done and Mitra has
a great deal of talent. Her more upbeat material reminds me of Paula
Abdul, who had a great deal of success with that style. This *other*
side of her musical stylings is equally impressive.

Good luck, Mitra. ;-)

WoW! &mdash 07/06/06 - 09:39:57 AM
Thanks so much for all the comments, well compliments!!

I will get the lyrics up..to be honest I just put my stuff up and kinda forgot about it as I wasn't expecting much.

So to let you all into a secret....

this was produced in my house and the production itself orchestrated by my husband although lyrics and melody are mine although he had a bigger hand in 'Rebuild Me'

He also did the 'PR' so am totally independent at the moment but quite heavily involved in Rock Star Lottery (although I'm not all rock at all, I did jump on the bandwagon and doing quite well) It works by votes so if you'd like to visit the website that would be great as it's all great exposure. Who knows, maybe one day I can do this and get paid!

Once again, thanks a million for your very kind words

This has a lot of FEEL and I'm really into emotion coming from a composition. It's what drives me to write and seems that this must also be the case with you. What makes this that much more special is the execution. Wow... I'm blown away...it's so well done and your voice is so sweet and the message is well sent. Did you create all the tracks and write this song too? If so what a complete package! Thanks for sharing...

Hi

Thanks for your wonderful compliments! I do write all the songs myself but I cannot take credit for this one as my husband wrote it for me and I ended up singing it...

Thanks a million..(all the other songs are written by me melodically and lyrically but again my hubs produces them)

Quite a talent here!

Like that hypnotic acoustical fingerpicking as well. Lot more goodies,
can't list them all. Nice drama!

Top notch. I think the string twang at the end of many verses would sound better turned down and more subtle instead of so loud that it distracts. Otherwise excellent!

A very professional recording. Between you , you and your husband can rule the British charts. When's hubby going to put up something of his own? He clearly has the musical ability. Does he sing like Daffy Duck? I do, and I still post songs.

Also, never mind what Tobin says about rain. Rain is good. You can't record sunshine.

Right at the top &mdash 10/03/06 - 12:43:08 AM
of the style you're going for - I think you're being a little too careful on
your pronunciation, though - a little less perfection may allow more
character through, and, ultimately, that is what makes an artist stand out
from the crowd. Good luck, Shaky

it aint my cup o tea &mdash 08/18/07 - 05:37:57 AM
If you want to go reaaaaallly commercial, then read this. If not, forget what i wrote below. It is just my humble (though blunt) advise.

I read your story on the forum. The only way to get on the music wagon is to find out what genres you are willing to do and then look for producers that know which genres sell like hell. The trade-off should be clear, you do the genres that you like or just barely like and they get a singer that has a good voice and you both get a tune that makes money. This ballad ain't my cup o t, it is too nineties, too slow and made me feel awkward. The lyrics are good, very good. This doesn't mean there ain't an audience for it, mind u, one song of yours gets downloaded twice as much as my entire collection. You don't need peeps that tell u how great everything is, u wanna sell stuff! And if it were great u would make money of it, right?! For example take Bodyrox feat. Luciana - Yeah Yeah. Luciana's own stuff didn't sell until she collabed with peeps that were/ are outside her genre and did the song Yeah Yeah. Now she is back in her own genre again and unfortunately ain't selling jack again. She is too insecure as well, i know that for a personal fact. Can't have that, u needs to be strong madam! Really unworldly strong. Either give up on your dreams, water them down or keep going strong. But it ain't a good market for you these days, peeps download everything for free, the competition is hellishly stiff and prepare to sell urself like never before...... And for that good producer who is gonna change your life, I don't think you should look here, sorry. It just ain't gonna happen, yeah perhaps if u stick around for like a gazillion years and Garageband gets pimped the pro user cause it is pimped beyond the phase it is in right now, mind u it is an Apple Garageband site. And don't forget, peeps sell u bs everywhere. Me included. Btw, my best tip for you!? GO TO MYSPACE AND LOOK FOR PRODUCERS OVER THERE! Perhaps Timbaland?

good luck sister

It didn't make me feel awkward at all. You can go bug some producer on Myspace like the guy who did "Suicidal". Hell, you might get lucky like he did. If that doesn't work Mix Masters Underground will be happy to work with you. We ain't no "Timbaland" but we can hold our own in this business. Just my 2

wonderful song mitra &mdash 08/19/07 - 12:58:49 PM
the fiddle are simply beautiful in your song, especially playing higher in the chorus. i have to say that a fiddle or a flute, a whistle heard in the song make THAT magic for me. they make the message expressed in the song real, true, something what doesn't stay only on a surface, but gets under your skin, straight into your heart. beautiful fiddle and brilliant guitar and piano. love your voice, very nice warm colour and sincerity in it and love the way you use it. i actually have to say i ADORE that folkie feeling of your tune. it is so much more exciting for me as a listener, then if it was just a pure pop. BEAUTIFUL song, everything is simply splendid there. brilliant!

A plethora of mixed feelings &mdash 08/21/07 - 05:55:18 AM
and more on the positive side too. Yes it is difficult not wanting to sell out for money's sake but no-one wants to wake up dead saying 'man I didn't even try other things' - so I'm totally up for mixing genres, trying something else, whatever gives me the opportunity to sing and yes make money doing so. We are all singing about the same things most of the time anyway, it's just the way it is expressed that is unique but I'm pretty sure I will feel something in any song as long as it's a good tune. Mix masters - you guys are based in LA right? Love LA and would love to meet you - message me or I'll look up your contact details so we can talk properly and everyone else, thanks a million for your lovely words

Simply Stunning &mdash 11/02/07 - 12:23:47 PM
Some of the most profound lyrics I've ever heard. The mix on this is wonderfully done in that the music is perfect for the song, and in you face. But not to the point where the lyrics are not intelligible. You can hear every note of the music and understand every word of the lyrics. An amazing production.

And now to your voice. Your voice is crystal clear and melodic, but most of all rich and beautiful in it's tone and texture. You have a truly wonderful gift in that singing voice.

As everyone else has said, I to say. This is truly beautiful. Thank you for giving all of us this gift.
