Description:
This is a work in progress. I was kind of hoping that those who hear this piece might offer some advice on what to do with it and where to take it. This is the first time I've written anything like this, so at this point, it's a delicate flower that has hardly begun sprouting. Please be gentle. All suggestions are highly welcome. Subtle and beautiful &mdash 06/28/06 - 05:59:56 PM
You have a good start for a very nice soundtrack here. The piano playing is expressive. Harp and panflute (?) work wonderfully with the piano and the strings seem to add just the right flavor for a expansive and inspiring piece.
I would suggest to find a melody or theme which resonates with your idea for the soundtrack and develop it. Here are my thoughts when listening to your draft. I would start with the piano, have the harp come in to embellish and add the strings to add drama once the theme is established (needless to say a "non-linear" approach will work just as well, but keep in mind that without a connecting theme it's easy to loose focus". The individual instruments sound georgous the way you use them, sounds like you have a very good ear for that, but I would introduce them slowly and build up gradually. It's important to have a theme to built up on, of course, and with the ground work being done here, you can really get started. Wow this is a wordy comment! There are lots of people on this site who could probably give you much better advice here (check out Cameron, ComposerClark's work) but I really liked what I heard and am looking forward to hearing where you go with this piece! Good luck!

Thands for the Advice &mdash 06/28/06 - 07:01:55 PM
Thanks, Parichayaka. It's funny, you know, because I have been wondering about
using more strings in the middle, more full strings. And the idea of having a
theme is also good advice. Thanks again and thanks for the review on my
smooth jazz piece.

Beautiful... &mdash 08/04/06 - 09:42:18 PM
This really captures the fall to winter feeling. That first cold breeze across
your face to let you know. I could have taken it if it was a tad longer
RpGreat job! Rp

Thanks for listening. This is a work in progress. I've had little time to work on it
lately, but I hope to finish it soon. Thanks again.

I miss autumn &mdash 06/14/07 - 07:34:41 PM
My favorite season, and this piece makes me think of what it's like when the weather and the leaves just start to turn. I kept waiting for the strings to come in and take this theme to its peak, although I'm not sure I would go with a harp (doesn't quite fit with the season and the tune, to my ears anyway). That's where I would see this going, where a bed of strings suddenly swells and takes over the piece to its finish, like how a light breeze will get the leaves of an autumn forest moving before the wind really swoops in and everything is swaying.
