Description:
This is another early GB song that I just rediscovered. I dusted it off, made a few adjustments, and am now lying it as an offering at your feet to comment on, as you so choose.
Of course, all the vocals are me cause I'm a control freak! Yes, there are loops in this one, as well as my humble stylings on the keyboard. The drums are loops. I love them!
Thanks Peeps!
Stacey
Lyrics:
STRONG WOMAN
Stacey K. Black
Once upon a time a wise man said
and trust me, I know it had to be a man
He said it's better to have loved and lost
than to never have loved at all.
I wonder if he felt my pain right now
would he change his tune?
If he were living with this dying dream
would he feel the way I do?
Once upon a time a wise woman said
and trust me, this woman was wise
she said it's better to be strong
than to suffer from the fall.
If she were still alive and in love
would she change her tune?
If she were wrecked from her own strength
would she feel the way I do?
I am a Strong Woman,
I can leap tall buildings in a single bound.
I am a Strong Woman,
but my strong man is nowhere to be found.
Once upon a time I had a dream
and trust me it had to be a dream
I asked myself, girl, why don't you
answer when he calls?
I wonder if I had awoken
would you have changed my tune?
If you were still beside me
would I feel the way you do?

your lyrics always get me there... and your singing had real emotion..
these ingredient are key for a great song... one quible... this sounds
like a work in progress... the rythem trax shine, but the
instrumentation doesn't match the rise in emotional level with the
drum trax... I want to here something more etherial and less rythemic
than the electric piano arpegios, with some kind of substancial bass
bottonm end... this song could have an incredible impact, [ Reply to This ]

Thanks so much Scott. I want to get rid of all the looped piano and guitar tracks
and play my own. Eventually... the great thing about the loops is that they are so
convenient! But I plan on doing those changes soon. Thanks agan for listening. I
really respet your advice and comments.

Singing is Very Fine &mdash 06/30/06 - 06:36:30 PM
I especially like the harmony parts. I like the use of tom drums in this -
pleasantly reminds me of some of the work Ginger Baker used to do. Cool
dreamy sound. Very good painting too (and it fits the song lyrics and
song style well). [ Reply to This ]

Stacey, your feel for the flow of your compositions is among your many
strong tools. Then there's your lyric writing, the sounds you choose, your
voice, your delivery...
I'm glad you post your excellent music here. I will continue to listen as
you bring more songs to this site. I know you like the drum loops you use
here - I don't think they are worthy of your voice and your lyric. I think
when you begin to create your own drum tracks or collaborate with
someone with whom that is a strength, your music will reach new heights.
As good as it is now, that's quite a thought... [ Reply to This ]
