Description:
Acoustic drop D (ala Neil Young) song. Inspired by listening to Elf Power who sound a bit like early REM.

Garage Band with additional M-Tron mellotron (cello, strings, etc) - I like the M-Tron string sounds better than the Garage Band Orchestra ones.

Love the folk rock feel, the lyrics, the whole easy feel and interesting
panning. Really strong, solid writing, construction. I especially like some
of the bass playing and harmonica, and that nice multi-voiced bridge.
Wonderful track. Consider posting the lyrics by adding them to your song

I'm glad that you added the lyric... your work is too good not to
display... In my last comment I welcomed you.. adn you've been here
about as long as I have... I wish I had noticed before... you are great...
I've already posted several comments... one thing i didn't mention is
your natural melodies, once again you either work very hard, or you are
incredibly inituitive... you are very gifted... by the way the production

Man, you really need to get a CD out there if you don't already. Very pro. The more I listen to your stuff the more I'm inspired and amazed!
Question... Are you using outboard compression or just the Garageband settings. If it's all Garageband please let me know how you're setting it! [ Reply to This ]

Yeah do tell. Brain, you are getting pretty consitant comments about the quality
and profession level of your mixes. I'd love to have some info on your approach
to recording and mixing. A little primer for us who want to do what we do as
well as you.

Compression? Believe it or not, I use hardly any at all. The only thing I put
compression on is the vocals. I have a preset that I saved out that I use all the
time - the only thing i change is how much reverb and echo I put on it (I
prefer vocals to be pretty dry) All background vocal parts are tripled, so a 3
part backing vocal will be stacked to 9 vocal tracks. the vocal setting has gate
and compression clicked on, but set to 0, then i use the AUDynamics
Processor set to the LIGHT preset. I back off the head room setting from 40 to
30. I use this vocal setting for recording acoustic guitars also using a
condensor mic (M Audio's $99 one) All the other sounds are Garage Band
sounds that I slightly modify, but I rarely put compression on any instruments
at all. I put minimal reverb and echo and sometimes none at all. that's it.

The KISS method of recording. Very clean and transparent. Dry in the mix but
dripping with talent.
I'm gald that your stuff is getting kudos, you deserve every one. And it's
because the effort I know you put into all your music, the writing,
instrumentation, arrangements, mixing all deserve the rewards of recognition.
Keep it up, it appears you have a group of folks here that do appreciate what
you are producing.
