Description:
My good friend Ed Hagihara added some incredible sax, flute and voice to a sound bed I posted. My favorite part is Ed's "metheny like" vocal additions towards the end!
Check out more of Ed's work @
www.macjams.com/artist/edhara
This came out great, imho. Ed's layered backing horn parts in the 2nd verse, the flute in the break, that very cool ethereal voice at the end. Ed's the man. Oh yeah, the guy can HONK!!!!

smoooooooooth jazz! &mdash 07/11/06 - 12:48:02 PM
This tightly-put-together tune reminds me of a lot of stuff on "smooth jazz" radio stations, especially about ten years ago. Very listenable, mellow yet energizing.
Excellent sax playing!
The sound-bed you provide is well-balanced and spreads out nicely through my headphones. Very tasteful mix, and fits the genre perfectly.
The flute was also good, but I would have liked to hear it even more throughout the piece, maybe echoing some of the sax riffs.
LOVELY voice layers at the end, indeed! I'd definitely like to hear more of this kind of sound in future pieces. The voice sparkles through this mix very pleasantly.
Very professionally competent track in every way. Excellent work from both of you!

Thanks much for the comments!

Actually, I had seriously thought about doing something like that to help lead the tenor out to the voices. However, I'm really not that much of a flute player (truthfully, I literally pulled it out for the first time in something like 18 years) and did it specifically for this tune. I think I may have to brush up on those chops. *grin*

Wow... just... wow. I'm really pleasantly surprised by the overall response to the vocal parts, especially since I don't consider myself a vocalist by ANY stretch of the imagination.

*blush* Thank you very much. Really.
Karmatoburn was really the one that approached me with this collaboration a while back. I heard a melody on the 'A' section almost instantly. Amazing, really... something about the work he does resonates with me. Major kudos to him for his part in this. I have a tremendous amount of respect for his mad compositional skillz. another Jazz Fizz, please.
Very cool, bubbly and refreshing. Nice restraint, nice mix and HOT
honkin' on the phone.
Nice work, guys. I'm jazzed! ;-)

This is such an amazing track - not normally my sort of thing but it
reminds me a bit of Steps Ahead. Great arrangement and stonking sax
playing - grand stuff.

PV, I can't express how much Ed'd playing makes this track. It was just
another jam and now its one of my favorite . Thank you for listening and

Nice melody from the sax, very talented sax player. Production sounds
good, nice mix. I also like the flute in the middle adds a nice touch to
break up the sax [ Reply to This ]
