Description:
This is a song I had posted and pulled. I had help from Alimar removing the hiss.

This is a cut from the album my old band, MOJO FILTER put out in 1991. I had one copy left on cassette that was digitized. I was a fool and lent it to someone....when i got it back, I quickly re-digitized this song and posted. I had some comments on the hiss. Hopefully this sounds better!

Hardware:
Scott Bronnes: Harp and Lead Vocals
Jamie Canning: Drums and Vocals
Steve Leveille: Bass
Al Simmons: Alto Sax
Micheal Collins: producer
Fred Danner: engineer
Ziti: writer, guitar

Software:
Originally recorded @ Courtlan studios, Hanson, MA, 1990

That's cool daddyo! &mdash 07/10/06 - 03:08:15 PM
Everything I said before but much better with out the hiss. Curious - what did you do to clean it up? Whatever you did, it worked! Still sounds muddy and distant kinda like a waaaaay over compressed mp3 but - 100% better. I guess there's only so much one can do. I've got some old tapes of mine I'd kinda like to clean up as well. They may be too far gone though. Everything came through much clearer this time.

BIAS "SoundSoap" used to clean it up.

Like listening to a beloved and much worn LP... &mdash 07/10/06 - 07:45:35 PM
...The music's good enough that you can listen through the flaws in the
recorded medium.

I like your restrained playing here, Fran. Nice contrast to some of your
"thicker" multi-tracked extravaganzas. I say 'restrained', but 'focused'
might be the better word. Plenty of fire...

I like the bass playing, too, and I bet the drums had some real "crack" on
the master tape...

we must remember...this was recorded in a real analog 32 track studio 16
years ago....restraint isn't the word really...it was more like terrified to be the
one to screw up....the rhythm guitar part that I had written was rendered
unplayable by a cramp in my left hand that was really un yeilding. We did
about 10 takes of rhythm so we could over dub solos...i remember dunking
chocolate chip cookies in Jack Daniels and napping under a grand piano until
it was my turn to solo...my son was 2. he is now a senior in high school, so
that alone changes the perspective on playing blues! There is certainly more
wisdom in my playing now, all though not much of it is musical wisdom...

The bass player on this was a sublime blues bassist...his musical knowlege
was nil when i met him and he grew to be a fine fine player. He never made a
mistake...and never strayed away from the walk or the established pattern. I
have not seen Steve since the band broke up in 95.

Jamie was a typpical crazy drummer....very funny...very un-mean...and sang
pretty well too. Al was only in the band a short while, although I did play with
him again later in another band.

Scott plays on my post The Big Blues and is still in my regular gang of jammin
buddies.

Some where, someone has a digital two track. The masters are long gone I'm
sure. But I have several other early originals, and there are a couple of good
covers i will be restoring.

thanks for listening ed!!

The song is great and fun to see you post stuff from your past. Seems like
you have always been great on guitar and the work here is terrific... Love

The old familiar paradox! Like the blues in general, this piece DID make
me feel so very good. Great vox. Cool guitar licks. Raw and raucous
mouth harp and sax. Good arrangement overall.

Be well!

Thanks to the sound quality... &mdash 07/11/06 - 03:26:21 PM
it somehow made me feel like being back in a stuffy band room having a great time playing with my friends! Thanks for that. Needless to say we were rookies back then and never came anywhere close to this level of professionalism. Once again I was surprised at your guitar playing, blending perfectly with the energy and timing of the rest of the band. Suprised only because so far I had listened only to some of your much softer and soulful pieces you posted more recently. And although taken from a cassette, it may have lost the crisp sound but certainly not its energy and punch! So all I can say is that I agree with all the good things said, and thanks for posting!

I can't believe &mdash 07/11/06 - 06:06:54 PM
you got this off an old cassette! This is a slick'n'groovy blues, very nicely played. My favorite parts are the solos, the harmonica in the beginning, your scattered leads, that killer sax, and your solo. Nice touch at the end too. Thanks for bringing out the old tape!

Analog sweetness &mdash 07/13/06 - 11:13:10 AM
I wish there was an effective way for our virtual studios to replicate
analog tape compression... It's always a sweet warm sound... great
playing here Fran, as usual, love the sax too... nice interplay with the
horn... I enjoy hearing what you were doing in the early 90's.. In the
interest of Art I have buried everything I did back then... who knew that
gregorian chants weren't going to come back

The ensemble of some hot cats.
Some people just have that touch. You do, Ziti. I mean you REALLY got
the touch. The perfect lick for the spot. You got the feel on the
fretboard that's right up there with the greats. I always respect your
playing and have all your tunes

That was fantastic Zetes! Sure the quality isn't the greatest (though I did
download it and fiddle around with some of the EQ settings and that
improves it a little)... but the playing is tight and full of punch. That was
a fine bunch of muso's you had there and I'm glad the tape survived.

Thanks for having me round!

smile! Nex time you take a photo 20 years ago, do it without sun-glasses ;-)
