Description:
This is a rather unusual piece designed to help people relax and hopefully feel uplifted in the process. I live by the sea, and walk there almost everyday, so I guess it rubbed off....Please use headphones if possible..Hope you like it....Peace, Norman

Lyrics:
Come, come swim with me across the Sea of Harmony.
Dancing light all around, caress our bodies which float on sound.
Warmth of spirit calls to depths never seen.
Bringing new dimensions to our beings.
Joy, love, wonder and awe, heal our hearts and let them thaw.
Come, come swim with me across the sea of harmony.

Inspiring... &mdash 07/10/06 - 11:58:48 PM
and uplifting. I love the ocean. I'm 90 minutes from the Oregon coast and
get there whenever I can. This piece captures well the centering calm I
often feel while communing with the great water. And yes...headphones
are a must here! Well done friend!

Take care!

Thank You, Conductor!
People are under so much stress today with all of life's necessities, even just
staying afloat (forgive the pun), and then there is the war and political devide.
I'm glad that this song will solve all these things! ;-) Anyway, if it can give
people a little respite, then I'm happy and I'm glad it provided this for
you...Peace, My friend, Norman PS I'm glad to see you're back!

Soothing and engaging &mdash 07/11/06 - 03:13:48 PM
Simple but mesmerizing chords in the beginning. The soundbed mixed with the calm rhythm have a tremendously soothing quality. And the open chords add an expansive feeling. The lyrics are heartfelt and inspiring, with your recitation being no less enagaging. Very successful and enjoyable experiment. All without the help of the usual "new age" reverb and overly sweet instruments, you manage to get your inspiration across with a very simple sound structure. Beatiful! Only small thing was, that the voice could sound a little bit warmer; sounds a bit synthetic in my headphones. Overall though this could be an wonderful introduction to a future CD. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the kind words Parichayaka... In future renditions of this I will
definitely use your suggestion and try and warm the voice. Thanks for your
insight on this...I enjoy your music very much and trust your judgement....Peace,
Norman

very etherial soundbed &mdash 07/11/06 - 04:11:03 PM
Yes, this is very therapeutic. I love the way you pull the different timbres
in and out of the mix. The chords are lovely and grounded.
I think the voice could be a little more embedded. It's almost jarring when
it enters - not what you say, but the volume doesn't quite mold into the
mellow mix you have. I could hear this being done with a female voice,
Caribbean accent, flowing a bit more smoothly into and out of the mix.
You have a really nice piece, here, though. I'm glad I was pointed to it.

Thank you Kristyjo....I'm glad you like it...I think sometime in the near future I
will try and remix the voice as you are the second person who as mentioned
this...As for the female voice I totally agree...I even considered the vocal
transformer but could not get it to work to my satisfaction, is there some secret
to get it sounding like a real female?....Peace and Light to
You....Norman

Different feeling &mdash 07/11/06 - 06:29:48 PM
Honestly, I get a very differently feeling from this piece. The music is put
together well, but I almost feel an eerie mood instead of what was meant
to be soft and flowing. Towards the end it gets more of a "feel better'
mood but I do not feel the same thing as all the others, which could mean
I am just totally off with my feelings today!! :)

Good job no matter what.

Different feeling &mdash 07/11/06 - 08:28:50 PM
Hi jsacker:
Did you listen with headphones? The piece is very subtle in places and needs
to be heard from an enclosed environment....Or then again, if you already did
that maybe you just don't like it....Its an experimental piece, and as such it may
be too much of something for some people....Peace and Light to you, Norman

Wow, I really love those floating synths. I'm a sucker for that kind of
thing. In fact, really enjoyed the music throughout, it's got a nice
fascination thing going on. I didn't personally care for the vocals, my
bias is definitely towards singing and/or rhythmic voice, and I find
spoken word a little jarring. But anyway, the pulsing, floating music is
beautiful and psychedelic.

Thank You Perpetual:
I think I will be reworking the vocals here soon as things slow down a
bit...This was the first piece I've done with a mic on digital and a new mic at
that....Might even try singing here in the near future....anyway, glad you like the
musical part!....Peace to you!

WAY COOL &mdash 07/11/06 - 11:46:38 PM
Hey, Norm. I've never liked swimming in the ocean (or lakes). But this is beautiful. I'm about to go to bed and this is the perfect way for me to fall asleep.

I have a collection of sleep inducing music. This is going into the that playlist.

Excellent.

WAY COOL &mdash 07/12/06 - 12:47:03 PM
Thank you Charlie:
The Orcas near where you live were part of the inspiration of this piece. I've
stood on the giant rocks and watched them catch salmon from my Rocky Perch.
One had an enormous back fin that must have been 8 feet tall, they are
amazing animals....
I'm glad this made it to your before sleep list. Its designed to massage the
aura while the person is relaxing....Peace to you buddy, and I'm looking forward
to YOUR next work!...Norman

nice ideas &mdash 07/17/06 - 05:37:51 PM
The music sea-bed is nice, I like the echoey whale-song-like thingies
that show up here and there... the high-string chords shimmer like
sunlight through kelp-leaves... so I feel more under water than walking
on the shore. In the beginning there was a dissonant chord that did
feel a little ominous, but then light returned. Then again, I've lived by
the ocean all my life too, and I find it calming, and impressively
powerfully dangerous at the same time. So this seems to fit the idea of
the ocean, but not quite as serene as you may want. The pace may
want to be slowed a little, and when your voice first came in, it was
startlingly loud... you may want to add some effects to soften it a bit.
You may want to say something first to build to the poem, to prepare
the meditating listener for a sudden voice in their head. Maybe let the
word "Come" repeat louder and louder, bubbling up from the depths,
then start your poem. Also, since we are underwater, and the other
effects sound echoey, your voice should match, and have some reverb
on it. Try AUMatrix Reverb, set to "Concert Hall", and wet/dry mix set
to about 25%? Maybe a teeny bit of slow phaser too, to have your voice
waft a little. Just some ideas.

Drakonis

nice ideas &mdash 07/17/06 - 06:41:21 PM
Thanks Drakonis:
I think that is a great idea about the echo in the voice as a soft lead in and I'll
give the other settings a try too...I wanted the words to be very
understandable, so many times its very hard to follow the lyrics, even on "Pro"
recodings and seeing how this is designed to be similar to a hypnotic induction,
I think I can utilize your ideas and still keep the clarity...Thanks for the
thoughtful ideas they are truly appreciated and be on the look-out for a new
rendition in the next few weeks....Peace and Light to you, Norman
