Description:
This one has been sitting on my shelf for a long while. It's a study in MIDI sequencing using assymetric meters. I was playing around with a 7/8 bass rhythm and wanted to see how a 3 note pattern would line up.

It turned out to be a somewhat inspirational yet progressive ditty, so I kept it, and named it "Headlong" as it reminded me of the feelings we experience when we throw ourselves into a tough task and are able to realize a satisfying accomplishment from it.

Hardware:
iMac DV, Korg X5D, Tascam US-428

Software:
Digital Performer 4

Very nice &mdash 06/30/04 - 06:12:50 PM
the constant ride cymbal remminded me of Vinnie
Colaiuta. Anything in seven rminds me a bit of Rush too
so I got a bit of Neal Peart too

A bit too constant and MIDI sounding and too short. If you
stuck a bit of variation into the levels of the drum hits and
legthened this it could be really cool

Great idea.

Yes... Rushy. Haha, you got my stereotype pegged pretty good though.
Huge Rush and Peart fan (and a drummer to boot!)

I really like the 7 rhythm in this piece; it adds a lot of
interest.

I agree with Ringo that this piece is "a bit too constant and
MIDI sounding". But it's cool and has definite potential. In
addition to his suggestions, maybe add another voice with
a distinctive theme/melody hook to pull things together.

The piano sound could serve this function, perhaps, if it
were a little more present in the mix. But I'm hearing
some other sort of wind instrument instead....
