Description
A fairly significant reworking of the original song posted last October - written the day we heard that our daughter was pregnant. It set off a heap of emotions which I hope are conveyed in this song. It seemed appropriate for this to be my next post.
The original suffered from less than brilliantly recorded vox (using my pre-Rode, 30 year old Shure) and a drum track that was plain awful. I think I have improved these significantly here.
This has been my most downloaded song for some time, so I thought I really should provide a new copy for those who have the old one. I'm also hoping to get it out for those who haven't heard it before.
Works best loud - thanks for listening.

Lyrics
Coastal Daze
© Neil Porter 10/10/2005
It’s just another day
In just another coastal town
It could be anywhere
But we’ve got you coming ‘round
We’ll walk down to the River Mouth
Where sapphire turns to turquoise
On the edges of the bay
We’ve got you coming over
It’s just another coastal day
The endless sets roll in
A moby dances in the bay
And Sydney’s far from here
On just another coastal day
We got your news today
We heard you buzzing on the Sydney line
Next June’s not far away
It’s as if you’d been here yesterday
And we know you’re doing fine
We’ll take you to the water’s edge
We’ll swim just like your younger days
Like we did when you lived here
And you’ll dive under the waves
And disappear
Walk around the cliff-top trail
Stop at lookouts on the way
Enjoy you being here
On yet another coastal day
We’ll walk down to the River Mouth
Where sapphire turns to turquoise
On the edges of the bay
We’ve got you coming over
It’s just another coastal day
INSTRUMENTAL
We’ll take the highway south
Head down the Teararse through the trees
There’s no-one else about
Forever empty sand and sea
And we’ll take you to the water’s edge
We’ll swim just like your younger days
Like we did when you lived here
And you’ll dive under the waves
And disappear
You surface on the other side
Laughing as you flick your hair
Wipe water from your eyes
And you say how good it feels
To be alive

Another perfect summer song. You have such warmth and sunshine in
your tunes, even when they are sad. Just the right amount of melancholy
and hope. You can hear the life lived behind your music, thru it all.
Wonderful. Thank you for continuing to share.
