81?
Salem Ohio is home right now. About 20 miles from two of the busiest truck
routes in the nation, Interstate 80 and interstate 76.
I'm really glad you like this piece. It is "growlier" than many of the songs I
write but I think it captures the feeling of truckin' pretty well. Thanks for
listening!!!!!!

Cool
Pretty cool. Like the organ? At least I think it is an organ. I can't hear
well anymore! Good job.
announcer said 1208 days ago (July 20th, 2006)
Cool
Yes it is an organ. I ususally like pure sounds on instruments like the
Hammond organ with, at the most, a minor amount of distortion, but i
needed a more aggressive feel here so I cranked up the Leslie effect and the
distortion. Thanks for listening and for voting!!!!!

Cool Track!!
This has a funky feel and I like your description too! Just wondering, is the
photo on your page from the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patt??? It looks
familiar. Great tune! Peace!

Cool Track!!
Ha !!! you recognized the pic of the link trainer instructor's table. This one is
not from WPAFB but from a museum in Binghamton NY where link had a large
factory. Since I have spent a great deal of my working life sitting behind a
strange device with earphones on (radio and commercial production) I
thought It was a good photo to represent me. Besides, doing the production
work I did for years made me feel like the mannequin in the picture at times.

Hahaha! I see...Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I guess
it's very fitting for you then. Thanks for stopping by my latest tune for a listen. It
is greatly appreciated! Take care! Peace!

Roll on down the highway
You make good use of hooks. The guitar and organ riff are short, but they
make a clear statement. Definitely catchy. This track has a solid that
groove that propels it forward.

Can I say something about your use of effects? I think you're overdoing it.
The reverb on the drums makes them less powerful, and the distortion on
the bass muddies the sound in the lows. And that weird clangy guitar on
the right channel is barely distinguishable, other than as a continuous
noise, except when it plays completely on its own. Tone it down a little?

Roll on down the highway
Thanks for your comments and thanks for listening. I hear what you are
saying but will probably leave the track the way it is. I usually don't use
effects this heavy on the bass track nor do I usually treat the backing guitars
this severely but I really wanted this cut to be grainy and grungy like a big
diesel with a jake brake :)
Other listeners ... what do ya think? is Vicdiesel right or is my diesel right? ;)

Yeah,
No ... it MAY sound a little like Hendrix but it's not really close because I have
less musical abililty in my whole body than Hendrix had in the fingernail of
his pinky finger on this left hand...but I appreciate the comment and the fact
that you listened to my little song anyway ;-)

Yeah,
You're right about the musical ability between Hendrix and you, ( and maybe
all of us ).
But it has that kind of energie, that i know from some of his songs and that's
what i like on your song.
Especially i like that it sounds as fat as that Bright Red Peterbilt.

Only thing i would like to hear would be a little, little less amount of reverb,
think it won't loose it's fatness. but that's only my personal choice.

Last nite i listened to some other Tracks from you on my old iBook,
already liked them. But i will listen to them on my studio stuff, 'cause
the iBook speakers don't deliver quality sound.
There's something about your music i really like, keep going.
sorry for my poor english.
best regards, mf

Yeah,
Thanks for the reply and again thanks for the kind words.
I do tend to overuse the reverb on most of my stuff. One reason for this is the
way I mix which is on phones. This is perhaps the worst way to mix but since
I am using my wife's computer in the family room while she watches TV it
works for me. I do want to have a good headphone mix however because I
mainly make this music for me, and I listen off of phones on an MP3 player
most of the time. As a side note, I really feel that a good headphone mix has
become more important in the last few years because of the popluarity of
iPods and the other "personal" music systems. I don't mix the stereo field very
wide on most of my songs because really heavily panned instruments usually
don't sound that good on phones. To get a sense of depth and width I usually
crank up the reverb. When I listen in the car or in my studio, I usually feel that
I have overdone it and come back to remix. Some of my really recent stuff I
have not listened to in the multiple envrionments because I don't teach in the
summer and therefore don't travel as far on a regular basis.
