Thanks for the reply and again thanks for the kind words.
I do tend to overuse the reverb on most of my stuff. One reason for this is the
way I mix which is on phones. This is perhaps the worst way to mix but since
I am using my wife's computer in the family room while she watches TV it
works for me. I do want to have a good headphone mix however because I
mainly make this music for me, and I listen off of phones on an MP3 player
most of the time. As a side note, I really feel that a good headphone mix has
become more important in the last few years because of the popluarity of
iPods and the other "personal" music systems. I don't mix the stereo field very
wide on most of my songs because really heavily panned instruments usually
don't sound that good on phones. To get a sense of depth and width I usually
crank up the reverb. When I listen in the car or in my studio, I usually feel that
I have overdone it and come back to remix. Some of my really recent stuff I
have not listened to in the multiple envrionments because I don't teach in the
summer and therefore don't travel as far on a regular basis.
