Description:
Today (July 20) would have been Kerry's fifth birthday. She's in our hearts every minute of every day. Happy Birthday, Kerry! We miss you.

This is how the song was written and how I play it live. I used two tracks simultaneously- one for the electric guitar, one for the condenser mic for vocals. You can hear the string slap through the condenser mic. Overall, it's a rough recording... but sometimes, that's not what it's all about.

Lyrics:
Lying there so precious and small
I close my eyes and take in it all
You are so beautiful,
You are my angel, Kerry my angel

Heaven sent, from above
With every breath you give me love
and you don't know how precious you are
You are my angel
Kerry, my angel

Sleep little baby
close your eyes
I will protect you through the night

God is watching over you
Sees your smile and I know it's true
He will protect and keep you well
For you are my angel
Kerry my Angel

Sleep little baby
Don't you cry
I will protect you
through the night

Lying there so precious and small
I close my eyes and take in it all
Who knows what tomorrow will bring
but you are my everything
I will protect and keep you well
for You are my angel
Kerry my angel
Kerry my angel

Thanks, McBoy- the fact is I wrote it on July 21, 2003, the day after Kerry was
born. In reality, I think the song was given to me- it just kind of popped out. I
wonder if I really did more than just bring the song to life. Somethings we just
shouldn't questions things too much, I guess.

Should have been 2001, not 2003.

What &mdash 07/20/06 - 12:12:47 PM
a heartfelt and heartbreaking tune. Very sweet and honest, and
especially moving. Jeez, I was just writing about music that gives me
goosebumps, and here's one right now. This is great, Adam.

Adam, you give her the chance to affect us all through this sweet song.
This sounds really nice in live form. I think my favorite live version you
did of this was when you played it on your acoustic for a SL show (I may
be remembering it wron and you played it on the electric, but that's what I
recall).

Thanks, Peter. You remember it correctly- it was on the acoustic in SL. Not
exactly sure why I didn't record this with the acoustic. I played this live for a
group of 25-30 people while camping last month, most of whom were aware of
Kerry's story. It was pretty intense to say the least.

What a gift &mdash 07/20/06 - 07:08:03 PM
Sent from heaven above. What better gift than the time spent with her.
May her memories live on forever. Like the live touch... your music works
well this well. Thanks for sharing.

lump in my throat &mdash 07/21/06 - 07:54:02 AM
"who knows what tomorrow will bring"... indeed.. I'm glad we have to
type our comments, because it would be hard to speak now... may I
ask if this was written before or after... time seems blured from the
readers point of view... but somehow the precious ones we loose still
feel close....

Scott- this was actually written the day after Kerry was born. Her outlook was
uncertain, even at that point. Anyway, that morning I picked up guitar and this
song just kind of fell out. When she died the song took on a more special
meaning.

I've posted other versions of this (more guitar and harmonies) but this is the way
it was written and by far my favorite.

vocal here, the words are so heart felt.
Thanks for sharing this AC. I really have this feeling that this is so very
important to you . You really bring that fact out in this song!

That is what music is all about!

Way to go, in such a heartfelt way!

from the heart &mdash 07/23/06 - 06:36:36 AM
So beautiful and touching, Adam. I think I have to listen to a lot more of your tracks ((Yes, time is always a bad excuse). This song seems to have a very sad story, and I'm so sorry to read that. But sadness can be turned into beauty when using the right skills. And that's exactly what you did here.

The experience of losing a child is something we problably will never
understand untill it happens. I won't. I am somehow glad that some years
have passed, otherwise I would not knov what to write here. It would all
have been helplessly insufficient.

I understand why you like this version (had to back and listen to your
earlier versions cause I had missed them).

An allthrough beautiful and open hearted song!!!!!

Words fail me &mdash 07/24/06 - 04:52:19 AM
Words fail me here Adam - this is a beautiful song which had me in
tears. This is a touching way for you to express your thoughts and
feelings, and perhaps makes us all stop and think about the frailty of
life and the strength of love.
Peace, Neil

Pausing to actually think about it &mdash 07/29/06 - 10:05:45 AM
It actually made me sit here and weep for a few minutes. The song is
beautifully sweet and innocent as it should be. I agree with Pete that I like
it better w/ a straight acoustic, but it's such a sweet simple song it
sounds good with any minimal arrangement. I have a somewhat similar
song I wrote with the birth of my daughter, but it's nowhere near as
polished as this one, and I've never recorded it, but I do play it for her
(and she requests it on occasion). Thanks for sharing man. Now, need to
get you playing more in SL.

Great song &mdash 11/26/06 - 05:09:01 PM
This is a great love song and excellent done.
"Who knows what tomorrow will bring". I can't imagine how you can manage to listen to it, unless it somehow brings you closer to her.
When my first child was born it dawned on me, i will never stop worrying, as long as i live. I am so sorry for your loss, but also envy you what little time you had together. For she was a miracle. I know. Mine are.

More songs please...

HEY MAN &mdash 01/01/07 - 07:45:06 PM
This is a great song and your vocals shine here! I can tell you are a fan of 80's metal. Why don't you do this song proper justice and record this right with killer production. I think it deserves it? Hope to hear the polished version!

Thanks Doc &mdash 01/01/07 - 08:10:40 PM
Appreciate the listen and the words. I've considered recording this on the acoustic with higher production values. Not sure if I'll post it here or not. Maybe. If not, I'll let you know just the same via notes and would be glad to send it to you.

Thanks, Steve! &mdash 01/08/07 - 06:34:55 AM
Glad you liked it! I do have a version of this that is much more "produced"- that is to say I used multiple tracks for vocal harmonies and guitars. The version here, however, is much truer to how it was originally written.

Damn you Adam.. &mdash 01/09/07 - 06:33:33 PM
...you made me blubber all over myself! Beautiful and heart-wrenching. So sorry for your loss friend. I came very close to losing one of my teen-age sons several years back and thought my world was ending. I can't even imagine what it's like to actually lose a small child. My heart goes out to you and all yours. In the meantime, she's in good hands.

Be well friend!

Very touching song. Personally, I like as is. Has an impromptu lullaby feel to it that just seems to give it that special magic.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It certainly is a beautiful song.

You captured what I felt when my daughters were born;; Like a soldier on guard with the acknowledgement that it is not in my hands. The instantaneous love that is carried like a treasure. I don't think that can be taken away. God bless, So sorry for your loss. Awesome vocal.

Joe.

Anyhow as usual you pulled it off and I noticed you said you were slow in writing songs, But they are soo
good and that is a good thing= slow but sure.
It sounded really nice too everything about it. Thank you so much for sharing this very special song.
