Description:
In preparation for posting our next new song (very soon), we're polishing up and moving our older songs over to their proper home on this page. This was the first song we made together and had so much fun doing it we decided to do a whole album. The original can be found here:
Bringing Down the Satellites,
The basic tracks are the same as the original, but we have remastered the song in Logic, which gives it more oomph and polish and we reckon makes for a much more enjoyable listening experience. We still intend to re-record the vocals in the future as well as remix the instruments, as soon as illuminati figures out where he stashed the original file.

Lyrics:
Bringing Down the SatellitesThere are swarms of stars
in every constellation.
We name and number them
to try to constrain them.
Sometimes two stars, both alike in dignity,
deny our claim and break to new mutiny.
I don't know you (but I dream that I do)
We're intertwined, but the planets misaligned,
put us in the right place at the wrong time.
What do space or time have to do with love?
What do space or time have to do with love?
What do space or time have to do with us?
If I could constrain what I feel,
beam it into the sky,
Orion would fall upon his bow,
the satellites would break the ground,
churn tunnels to the core,
explode out the other side
The Earth would burn, yet
somehow still turn.
We're intertwined, but the planets misaligned,
gave us other lives at the wrong time.
This is what space and time have to do with love,
This is what space and time have to do with love,
This is what space and time has to do with us.
There are swarms of stars in every constellation,
Universal laws that always constrain them.
We chase deep-sky objects
but can't ever obtain them.
Gravity locks us on the ground,
but there's something new in the Universe,
that I'm not sure
I can reverse.
(I love you)
We're intertwined, but the planets misaligned X4
What do space and time have to do with love?
What do space and time have to do with us?
I don't know you, but I dream that I do .

Everything in this song fits together very well. The vocals go so well with
the music and I love the feel of it.
Great job.

I love this! Your lyrics/message is great and your voice(s) are perfect for
expressing this message so excellently! Thanks for sharing this! The
NightBird:)

love the style, the melody, the instruments, the vocals. But i find it a little
muddy, specially in the vocals. Maybe too much compression? Maybe
needing some EQ tweaking?
jiguma
Logic sure makes a difference! The added dynamics are noticeable in
the backing tracks especially. Nice vocals Lisa - not sure why you'd
want to re-do them, but maybe you have some changes in mind. Very
European sounding track. Nice ending.

Thanks, Neil. I was really pleased with how much Logic helped bring out
Matt's music. I think the change is really noticeable in the bassline, which I
couldn't hear well in the last version, at all.
On the vocals, I want to re-do them on my Rode, this was done on a cheaper
mic and they sound a bit tinny in places. Our plan is to have all the vocals
done on the same microphone, so that when we get enough songs together
for an album, the sound will be more consistent. Thanks for saying you liked
the performance. :-)

This put a kink in my rolled gold twinkie package! I'd have to say you have a sexxy voice! Van i have a smore! When are you coming to see mee?

This track is truely great but I feel its lacking something.
I think it needs some low end kick and bass, The track seems to be all mid and high end. you need to fill out the sound spectrum a bit. Just my overated opinion, This track would be over the top if you could fill in that lacking bottom end a bit.

I really dig this song, and I don't remember what's different from the
original, but that rhythm section is awesome. I really like the synth
and string and various sounds in the music bed. Ledebutant, your
voice is just lovely to listen to as usual; I really like the vox in the
intertwined/space and time section especially. Something does sound
a little muddy with the vocal mix... but I think this is superb all around.
Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

I'm listening now with better headphones and I don't hear the muddyness that
I heard at work. So forget I said that, your vox sound clear on both levels!

Unique. This is heavenly.. vocals and arrangement compliment each
other quite well. Lisa's voice is both human and celestial, earthly one
moment then otherwordly the next. The lyrics are boldly unique and
adventurous, a mix of science and mysticism, and lyrical romanticism.
The creative mixing and effects has allowed all those imagery to swirl in
ones mind as he listens to this. Background music has a heavenly touch.
Love the closing guitar strumming... then the final vocalizations with an
abrupt end was just perfect! Bravo!
Even though I detest our rating system, i have to say this deserves high
marks across the board.

I've not heard this one before - there's such an eccentric groove when the
guitar kicks in and I particularly like the opening, that combination of
words with the guitar picking creates such a charming sense of wonder.
This is a track bursting with fine melodies and nice details; cracking
arrangement (I like the way all the various sections gel); lyrics that
demand attention and delivered brilliantly.

Just been listening to this again over and over (downloaded). It's such a
cracking pop song - if there's any justice in the world it should be a massive hit!

Hey, thanks Komrade. That's really good to hear. This is one of my favorite
songs I've ever been involved with, but both times we've put it out, it hasn't
performed nearly as well here at MJ as most of my other songs and I've never
understood why, because it's probably the one I listen to most of all. So, it's
good to hear that you're still enjoying it. Thank you for taking the time to say
so.

great work. This has so many different "feels" packed into it... kinda ethereal and meandering at times, other times it's restrained and introverted. Great job as always on the vocals.
My only complaint with the song is that I feel the percussion needs a little more variance. It seems almost to simple under all of the other stuff that is going on in the song.
Regardless, this is well thought-out, executed, and produced.

I'll have to do some comparison when walking to work... I think I like the
earlier mix a little better... But what the heck, I like both mixes, and both
are downloaded. This song has more in it than what's in it, ya know? It's a
novel, like something out of Hemingway where what has been left out is
still informing what's there.
The lyrics are great, the tracks are great, the spoken and sung vocals are
great... Yep. Still great.

And I thought there was nothing new under the sun : >
I liked the first version - and I like this one, too. It's a fantastic song, sophisticated with a songtrack that's filled with both overt and subtle touches, and fabulous singing of the most-wonderful lyrics.
Each time I listen to it, I notice something new in it. Which in turn makes me want to listen to it again.
I love those rhyming couplets - they're so Shakespearean.
Ed_Moran
Great feel vocals production groove ect.... Cool tune I look forward to
hearing more of your work.

I faved and rated your song a couple a days days ago, but I had no time to leave a comment at that time.
I've been reading all the other comments, and I get a bit puzzeled when people criticize on production issues. Muddy vocals? UNK? Honnestly, I don't hear anything that could be enhanced, bet hey, I'm not really a production god myself as you well know (and that's probably a big understatement :-)
This is a love song. And WHAT kind of love song! Gosh, Lisa, this thouches every bone in my body. These lyrics are wonderful, and they are brought with so much feeling that everyone with only just a little bit of sensitivity can not stay unaffected. The way you seamlessly switch between speaking and singing adds so much to the song. Just marvelous.
The sentence 'I don't know you, but I dream that I do' might sound very common when reading out loud, but the way you pronounce it - with putting the accent on the word 'dream' - adds a whole other dimension to it. Strange how this tiny accents can make the difference.
The same with 'I love you'. You hided these words secretly under the music, as you were a bit affraid or ashamed to speak them out loud. That's why you have put them between brackets probably.
What if you changed the main sentence of the song to 'We"re intertwined, but the planet's misaligned'. Hmm... a small accent of difference would make it more 'earthly'. I'm not saying it would be better, just different. But in that case I guess you will have to review the rest of the lyrics as well. No, stupid idea. I'd keep my hands of it. Perfection!

This would sound great on any club dance floor - or equally in a laid back cafe bar. Very professional from start to finish. The production is dynamic and the vocal is very - well - sexy! I love the semi-spoken delivery, but you also have the ability to let rip when you need to.
And a great ending!
