Description
I live in San Francisco. Late, on a very cold and clear July night, I had just gotten off work. Parking on Friday night is always difficult. I had to park way up at the top of Market Street and walk home into the Castro. The fog was just starting to wash over the bright city lights and clipping the top of the Bay Bridge. A fugue of awe and inspiration. This is what I saw and how I heard it.

from SF to the D
i wish i could take what i saw and make it how i heard it. does that
make sense?

if i knew anything about making this kind of music, i could say more.

but all i can say is that i'm glad i can hear your vision of a clear july
night in san francisco on a hot and humid day in detroit.

quite refreshing - and it's not putting me in a trance at all. i think it's
a good substitute for the coffee i didn't have today!

productions great as far as i can tell. some cool sounds going on for
sure.

glad to see you back after 4 months.

pretty stuff!
Very atamospheric beginnings, nice slow build... I like the sound painting
you create here, there is a foggy dreamy aspect that softens the slowly
revealed bustling cityscape. I can see the boats chugging along down on
the bay... very nice!

I love S.F.
This track would fit a montage for a skateboarding vid perfectly. All
those cats from Pier 7 getting there jam on. To me this paints a picture
of good times with great friends, and that has always been what
skateboarding is about!!! Thanks for sharing your vision.

Great atmosphere!
San Francisco is a beautiful town that I fell in love with many, many
years ago and almost moved there. I know how that city can inspire so
many creative things; it's a great place to be. I can remember the many
trips up there and enjoying the cool, crisp air coming off the bay as the
fog rolls in. Aahhhhhh..............(reminiscing)............O.K. Awesome
track! I could feel and 'see' what you were seeing. Wow, what a great
thing to be inspired by. Thanks for sharing this with us! Peace!

Dreamy
San Francisco has always been on my "To-See" list and now I know what
I'll have playing on my iPod when I do (whenever that might be).
Very visual music you've created here.
Great production.

Kudos!

Yeah!
This is great. All your sounds are top notch and the arrangement here
is pretty intense. I like your description of how you wrote this song,
very cool. I recorded my music in Mill Valley, just over the San Fran
bridge. I will always love San Fran and your music really is quite good.
Thanks for posting

Bit slow, nice groove
Seems nice, but the slow intro sort of kills the mood from one trance to another, perhaps a bit faster into the music?

The whole thing feels a little to slow, another 20-30 bpm would make this an awesome song!

Great trance
This is a really nice track, and it evokes all the sights, sounds and smells of the city esp imagining what you saw. You have done really well with this track. Its a lovely piece with some mad sounds esp. the organ which is a bit of a surprise.

pleasurable challenges
Music like this amazes me!

I like how you paint a picture with sound, evoking a specific time and place.

I've been trying to do this more in my music - writing about my neighborhood in Brooklyn and New York City as a whole - however, my approach primarily remains based on melody ... whereas you are developing your citysoundscapes using elements of rhythm, repetitions, beats, tones, textures and a variety of sonic snippets.

To me, it matters little where the sounds are coming from: whether they are pre-recorded loops, synth-generated impressions, home-made whispers or waves produced by a musical instrument ... what matters is how a person puts them together in a composition to make music. There's certainly joy to be found in the challenge of mastering a musical instrument ... so, too, creating a complex digital soundscape has its own challenges and rewards.

These pieces you have posted on macjams offer a variety of pleasurable listening challenges : >

wow
Awesome mix...very professional. You created the perfect soundscape here - transported me right into a foggy San Fran evening in the Castro. Loved the little organ line that comes in. This is a great piece - thanks!
