Description
This song is the end produt of my grade 8 music class this past year. Don't let that scare you off!!! They did great! I'm very proud of them and would like to get your feedback. It was completely written by them and they preformed all but 3 of the 30+ tracks themselves. Enjoy

Nice Song
Vocals do go out of tune, just keep working on it, I do like the song
especially the chorus

Nice Song
Yeah, Shane and Craig had a lot of guts taking the vocals. They really stepped up. It was a real learning experience for them. Let's see what tey can do in high school!

Vocals
Great composition but, the vocals are off. The original singer has a
great voice keep that throughout the whole song and just mix in the
backup singers vocals in the background. The backup singer vocals
should not overwhelm the music and lead singer.Great start and keep
mixing.

Tell them...
that they have a fan here at MacJams! Well written and performed. I
thoroughly enjoyed this. Lyrically it put in mind of OYSTERBAND's "Fiddle
Or A Gun" which is one of my all time favorite folk-rock tunes. Kudos all!

Be well!

CHILDREN? This is great!
This is a bunch of 8th graders? Basically kids? Wow! The musicianship is
wonderful! And, the boys singing can definitely sing, they can be taught
some finesse and when their confidence builds they'll be great!

So you're a music teacher? I wish I was in your class. You guys must have
a blast!

Wonderful tune. I'm looking forward to hearing more!

CHILDREN? This is great!
Yes we had fun! It was the first time trying a project like this. I'm making it a regular part of the grade 8 course. We also use Garaeband and Finale for writing and recording music in the other classes from grade 6-11.

Thanks!

music sharing
Eigth-graders? That's, what, 13 and 14-year olds? Not only composing and playing and singing, but also making a pointed political statement? I'm not sure what the laud the most - your school, your classroom, your students, your mentoring ... or the Macintosh and GarageBand!

This is how you learn - you throw yourself into making things. My guess is this is the kind of educational experience that lights a fire in kids' minds.

In not sure if macjams is the perfect place for them to be sharing their efforts (I say this because one of the premises of macjams is give-and-take, and without them having their own personal pages, they don't have the opportunity to review and critique other work). However, I hope you share more of their work - as well as yours - because it does expand the concept of music sharing.

this is wonderful mike
I'm reading some of the comments and wondering if some of these
folks read the bio... I'd give anything if you where teaching my kids...
these students will always remember this class project... and who
knows how this will effect them.... I would have loved to have a class
where this would have been available... they did a good job coming up
with a coherent piece... I'd be mortified to post what I was doing in 8th
grade

A class

Nice job
Be proud of what you've made. It sounds great. It would be nice if you
could take a snap shot and post a group picture of them along with the
song. Wish I had had technology and a music instructor/teacher like
you when I was in the 8th grade.

Keep up the GREAT work,

mvh ; )

Nice job
Oh I'm very proud of them! I can't wait to show them MacJams in the fall and everyone's comments. I wanted to have a picture and cover art design and everything, but we were down to the wire for June andit all coincided with the birth of our baby girl where I was out for a week. I'm working on remixing and remastering the tune now. I did a rush job finishing so they could get a CD for report card day.
Thanks for the comments.
I'm looking forward to mutting the iMac to much more use this year!
