Lyrics
really there's no reason for me to fuss
but i do what i must
and if i just contradicted myself in that statement
well hey
it's my own damn fault

now a day's you got kids eating mothballs just so they can get fucked up
and now a day's when you're choking on the wrong, they say take a little swig of this cup
and we're all so sad and confused, convinced we've been abused by some powers not in play
and when there's an easy way out, though we know that it's wrong, we'll take it anyway
and if there's anything wrong with the life that you're living
repeat after me
it's my own damn fault

now a day's there's people stuck in situations way beyond their control
and now a day's we all really need to focus so we can help get them out of the hole
and there's people hearing this song, thinking they have been wronged, they think i'm talking right to them
but all i'm trying to say to you people is that man in the corner, he is not your friend
and if there's anything wrong with the life that you're living
repeat after me
it's my own damn fault

now a day's you got assholes like me who are gonna try to bring you down
and now a day's the things you used to get smiling, you're only gonna get with a frown
and everybody just has to be hard, thinking i'll deal the cards, and hey now i'm the man
but when the dust gets settled, several years in the shitter, now you're wishin that you had a plan
and if there's anything wrong with the life that you're living
well hey
it's your own damn fault

oh
i don't know why
i feel the need
to get so high

Good subject for a song
You have great power in your voice and your playing. I think this could benefit from a little more production; I would like to hear your vocals stand out better, especially during the spoken part. I do like the live sound though, and your performance is beautiful.

(Sorry to get picky, but it should just be "Nowadays," unless there's a play on language I'm missing.)

sort of sublime meets bill o'rielly
If you haven't heard "Bradley Nowell and friends" (sp? the guy from sublime) you should check it out. you'll like it, same sort of guitar and tape machine aesthetic you got going here. i dig the low fi thing you're doing, it's all in the song and that's enough.
