Description:
A real short song I had alot of fun with.
Just a quick note... I have Logic express up and running. Im working with it so it will take some time to workout the bugs. Back to this song. There isnt effects at all. Just straight bass and guitar with drum loops. Im working on the words. But you get the idea.

I like this. Its 1955 and some skinny kid with his rockabill suit coat and
his rythmm section is goin off . Ah..er does it need deep a dollop of lyrics.
Simple and clean!

I hear the Buddy Holly/Crickets thing, but I don't sense a mirroring that
is close enough to worry about. Your attitude is way laid-back
compared with the Crickets.

While can't or, at least I don't, vote on W-i-P, cause things like
"Writing" take Big hits, I sure like what's here; Vx quality, especially.

Guitars are well played and attractive throughout, and the Kit Loop is
very "friendly" to the Mx, the Vocal seems Top, as it is effortless,
smooth and you want to know what is to happen next.

Big encouragement to you on the next stage (Lyric, mostly)
development; look forward to it. At the same time, if you wait until
you have Logic down, it will be Christmas! (I did the thirty-day Demo.
Read a Book on it. And will just hire a real engineer, if I ever really
need one. Life is Short.)

Best Regards,
Cooper

spacey &mdash 07/29/06 - 09:57:55 AM
the percussion is sounding pretty nice. im gonna listen to it again because the volume is a little to low right not to fully hear it. i sort of like the spacey feel and how the vocals are a bit back behind the percussion with a far away feel to them. a little variation in the rhythem may be nice. it sort of has a nice peaceful sound to it. the vocals sort of have a mysteriousness to them that i like.

Love the way this song goes on and on. Very groovy and catchy. Tight song! This song is good to go and explore the world.. :)

Nice &mdash 07/30/06 - 05:36:10 PM
I'd say that unless you have plans to add more instrumentation this
may be a little too long for what is here. After a while I got that "OK, I
get it" feeling. That's not really a criticism of the song other than to say
you might give more thought to the structure before the next pass.

You'll like Logic Express!

uh-huh huh ... &mdash 08/07/06 - 09:52:13 AM

.. ty very much ..

nice fun song you got there Steve. Personally I'd use the bongos a little
more sparingly and maybe go for more skiffly drums (brushes??) like
Violent Femmes, or more of a mixture of the two ..
while retaining the very well done rockabilly elements ..and also agree
with RoB that you need to sing with more confidence consistently all
the way through.

Guitar and bass spot on. (though I'd even consider trying out a synth
upright double bass sound for the bass part).

I have a real upright bass...But i dont have a pickup for it...maybe that could be
my next investment...thanks

cool &mdash 04/04/07 - 07:22:44 PM
i can kind of hear the buddy holly thing, but it's being drowned out by the Talking Heads version that's roaring through my head (shrill fast strummed fenders, analog synth bleeps, funky bass,...). nice song.

Thanks for stopping by!!
I need to rework this song a bit.
Like most songs on here, I just move on to the next before improving them.
Just lazy

i know what you mean. i look at it like "the means justify the ends." i do like your song, and off the cuff vibe (it's real).
