Description
I wanted to generate rhythmic variations which don't really repeat globally so I based the work around the idea of clouds where they slowly transform themselves; but at the same time, drift along in the sky.

The work comprises 6 tracks: violins1, violins2, violas, cellos1, cellos2, bass
I used a G5 1.8g dual and the orchestral jam pack... and way too many midi loops.

The section is 10 minutes.

Just Right.
My first impression was that you obviously know what your doing. I was immediately impressed and drawn in.
Part way through I noticed that the music gently glides from one Mood to another, nothing too drastic. A joy to listen to.
This is my favorite MacJams song so far.
Excellent job,
-Nick

Re: Just Right.
Hi Nick,
glad you like the work! Yea, I had a bit of fun moving from the first part to
the next but it seemed to go pretty good.

The second part reminded me of drifting down a river... while looking at
clouds or something... ha! Where I live on the prairies and work (on the 11th
floor), I get to see clouds all day or storms roll in or great sunsets so using
the cloud analogy seemed obvious when having to put some structure to this
minimalist or gradualist work.

Butterflies and leaves in the air
Like score by Jon Brion or Philip Glass. Endless twirling, key changes,
folds of joy and discovery. The attack on those MIDI instruments is so
nice, this sort of music can flow out so well. I enjoyed the open intervals,
the key changes. You should get a soprano to sing over this, it would be
great.

Re: Butterflies and leaves in the air
TobinMuller,
Glad you like! I generated several chord variations then used the best ones.
As you noticed, I like harmonic color.

I'll have to look into Jon Brion.

With 3-4 samples per note per string instrument, I managed to hammer out
some variations that made for a subtle audible difference. Had to sometimes
go in and tweak individual notes within the 5/4 measure loops. Garageband
is a bit clumsy in this regard but still is so simple to work with.

Yea, having a voice would really add. I guess I'm still in string mode for now.

apt description
it's attractive, and once I got over wanting it to grow into something that
it wasn't and figured out that this is, like slow moving clouds, minimalist,
I just went along for the ride and enjoyed it! It'd be great to hear a live
ensemble do this!

re: apt description
Thanks for the comments. Yea, the metaphor of moving clouds gave me some
structure for the piece and it seemed to work out ok in this case. A live
performance would be too much!
