Description:
A couple af weeks ago, I posted the original track 'ordinary guy', asking if someone would be interested to blow a bit more pathos into the instrumentation. To my surprise, Atonalis - whom I consider as one hell of a great artist - offered his services.
Wow, wow, wow! Be sure I like this version. He managed to get rid of the initial mellowness of the song (which I disliked a bit), without losing the passion and sensitivity. Thans so much, Shawn, for this great addition. I hope you all enjoy.

and airy.... real nice tones and very well assembled....good recording and
everything is played very well....I like the tightness and closeness of the
vocals....this is such a good bitter sweet tune....very well done you two....

such a thing....never heard punk rockers play a ballad....herhhehh)...or
may i say alt/prog rock ballad.......emotional vocal offering

Don't know how this could be Better. Expecting loss or failure, without

Nabakov-type self awareness. Rare.
Orchestration adds structure, yet yields up sympatico, as well.

Upon Further Reflecftion:
The Score/Instrumentation by Atonalis is More than Custom-made, it is the
Perfectly Imperfect (Roomy in the Right Places).
The Present of the Lyric, the "song" is more than Taught, it's courageous in its
quest and resolution.
This is EVEN Better than my original take.

Love the instrumental part of this.
Like you said, really sensitive without being weak and touching without
being fake.
The vocals were very fitting, too.

Walter, I loved your original oof this, but this is such an improvement.
Shawn has taken it and lifted it even further. Only crit is that I'd like to
hear your voice slightly up in the mix - your voice is really special, and
the lyrics and melody warrant full exposure. Not inferring any
problems with Shawn's work - the instrumentation is perfect. Really
looking forward to hearing what you come up with next.

When I first heard Shawn's version, I had the same impression as you (I mean: to bring up the vocals a little bit). But I think this might be influenced by the fact that on the original version, there is 'just the voice and its embellishment'. I like this one better, the vocals are part of the music here.

Surprising and nourishing collab &mdash 08/07/06 - 09:00:40 AM
As a huge fan of the original, I was unsure if I'd like this version. I do,
but it is is just a tad too busy in my ears (which are biased by their love
of the original). The mix is much better, the guitar sound more alive
and vibrant, strings are great, an improvement, and the notes played
are more interesting. The strings are lovely and improve. The
chunked guitar hits, however, bring a heaviness that my ears rejected,
and occasionally clutter the lyrics and meaningfulness and create an
unsync'd rhythmic element that never integrated (to me). The piano is a
great idea, and I like the tone quality it provides and new harmonic
variations, but at times seemed to fight the guitar chunks, even tho if
the guitar chunks were deleted, I may embrace the piano
wholeheartedly. Consider doing another remix without the chunks? As
it stands, I like the original better. More from the heart, true, and lyric

Originalsong from its emotion.The soul of this song grow up with your

Ordinary Guy is such a special,wonderfull song. I love it.
