Description:
i'm just so sick and sad of how many young people are being shipped overseas to forfeit their youth for war.
this song is aimed at those young people and the realization that this is a conflict over "black" and really not much more.
we're at $3.14 per gallon where i live. it's pure insanity.
Lyrics:
tell me what you see
when you look into the sea
well, all i see is black
and there's no coming back, no more.
tell me what you see
when you're watching your t.v.
well, all i see is black
and there's no coming back, no more.
it's a disease got me down on my knees
Jeez, Louise, won't you help me please?
tell me what you see
when your gas gauge reads empty
well, all i see is black
and another Humvee attack
it's a disease got me down on my knees
Jeez, Louise, won't you help me please?
it's a disease got us down on my knees
Jeez, Louise, won't you help us please?
tell me what you see
when your staring into the big ol' sea
all you see is black
and you realize there's no coming back no more.
no more.
no more.
no, no, you ain't coming back no more!

Simple answer... &mdash 08/07/06 - 09:45:52 PM
Most people complain about the war... and complain about gas prices... know the two influence each other... but never really put it together in their minds and what the implications are. Well spoken!...

I'm more of a Mary Ann kind of guy.
Very good production and singing. [ Reply to This ]

A dash of Ray Davies and John Lennon with a pinch of Dylan! Excellent!
Great guitar sound. Lovely vocal harmonies.
Be well!

nice and full. &mdash 08/09/06 - 06:41:00 PM
Boris, sorry to be so late here! I like the song - especially the lyrics/
vocals. What you're paying per gallon, some European countries nearly
pay per litre, so I wouldn't shout too loud ; ) Well produced - nice and
full.
I'd really like to hear this with a full rock band - letting someone like
John (TEXASFEEL) Luper at it would lift it a lot - if you go that way, I
know a drummer and bass player!
Like Mungo, I'm more of a Maryanne guy.
Peace,
Neil [ Reply to This ]

Well written and performed. The vocal doubling worked well. Got a nice
fat sound out of the acoustics as well. Good to see someone putting
their angst to such creative purpose. [ Reply to This ]

Thank you... &mdash 08/12/06 - 08:44:43 AM
thanks for the feedback, gang!
it was one of those mornings and i kind of just felt the need to put
something down. it was kind of fun going into a song so "raw," and not
really worry about later editing, overdubbing, or remixing.
it was very Opel (syd barrett), if i may say so.
i'm looking forward to checking out all of your music as well. i hope
you got some new stuff up! thanks again!! [ Reply to This ]

absolutely charming &mdash 08/29/06 - 12:10:55 PM
Boris, I think this is a great melodic song, very honnest and straightforward (in both senses). A classic but nevertheless highly effective chord progression, and the singing is absolutely charming. My favourite part is the chorus, no doubt about that. Maybe some vocal harmonies instead of doubling the same notes with the second voice would add.
I completely agree with Neil about working this out with a full band. For sure it's more than worth it. Just one little nit on the timing/syncing of the guitars sometimes...
Keep well!

Great raw sound to the singing, which was perfect for the theme. [ Reply to This ]

I like that real rock feel to this, The chorus just pops it out of the musical
atmosphere, good job [ Reply to This ]
