Excellent! &mdash 08/08/06 - 11:26:47 PM
Percussion and synth tracks sound very cool. Shame they didn't have
this sort of music when we were younger - this would work nicely with
smoke machines and lightshows (and stuff). Really well done David.
I'm iimagining this pumping out of a huge PA before some big band
comes on - and the crowd loving it. The more I hear, the more I like
what you've done here.
Excellent!

Awesome, we're thinking along the same lines; I'm glad you dig this! Thank
you for commenting Neil, I appreciate your thoughts and compliments. This
song definitely wants light shows and stuff.

The machines have gone native! &mdash 08/09/06 - 02:51:48 AM
Lots of phasing happening here! Nice blend of sound. Lots of flavors in
both the percussion tracks and the synths. Nice moments that feel like
a deep inhale of breath before digging back into the groove.

The variety of vocal-ish backings adds a strange, almost tribal flavor to
this techno trip. Warm, against the rhythmic clanking of the groovy
mechanical percussion androids.

The machines have gone native! &mdash 08/09/06 - 01:32:58 PM
Thanks for pointing out that contrast between the warm organic and the percussion androids; it's a juxtaposition that tickles my brain and I enjoy working that way. Ah yes, and the deep inhales before digging back into the groove... very perceptive; it's either a rut I'm falling into or a signature transition method. But I enjoy that kind of transition, and it's cool that you call it out. Thanks for listening, chikoppi, I appreciate you sharing your impressions here!

where no man &mdash 08/09/06 - 08:54:50 AM
has gone before. I ditto what Neil said. This resonates strongly as the
pre show wind up. Its easy to imagine some massive stage lighting
adding to the ambience of this piece, as the crowd starts stomping on
the floor to the beat. Very primal stuff. Liked the varied sound effects
sprinkled in.

Yes, I'd like to see it with that massive stage lighting... Pink Floyd's rig,
perhaps. I like that image. Thanks for listening, Karmatoburn.

Great and sometimes threathening athmosphere. This song took me
into the stars for sure. The tribal drums are adding a pulsing dark tone
to the track. Very neatly produced as well! It works for me, david.

Thanks Biz, cartoon porn is the best kind when you're in the joungla. The
only time you'll hear my live drums is at one of my gigs, but I might be able
to arrange a drum solo!

More Vacation Please &mdash 08/10/06 - 01:00:57 PM
I'm digging this new stuff you're doing since you came back from
vacation, the ethno-techno-organic-robotic dealio. I had Neil's image
of the pre-show music stuck in my head the whole time I was listening
and agree whole-heartedly. This song pumps out of the speakers as it
reaches the last seconds, with the woman's vocal, the lights go down,
the crowd roars and the THE WHO come in with the opening to Baba
O'Reilly(wouldn't that be fun). It totally works. I checked.

As per usual, extremely impressed with the production. Smooth and
groovy.

I like your description of my current dealio! Yes, now I also have the pre-
show imagery in my head. With Pink Floyd's big circular lighting rig, with all
kinds of accessory lasers and robots.

Thank you Lisa, I always appreciate you dropping by. I'm glad you are

a roll lately. While your stuff is always great, the last two or three have
been mind-blowers. Can I borrow your muse? I'll give right back...I

Mike, I'm glad I could bring up memories of that vacation so long ago. I'm
sure it was a trip to remember. Thanks for your comments, kind sir; I like to
think that I'm improving, and comments like yours and Lisa's are certainly
encouraging. As for my muse, she read your comment over my shoulder and
shook her head... sorry, that decision's hers! But here's 100 micrograms of

Dang. I want to be young... &mdash 08/10/06 - 06:30:58 PM
...and go to raves...

It IS about time that you and Tadashi and the livin', breathin' spirit of
Dogen got together, dontcha think?

Dogen at a rave. There's a concept. Musashi at a rave. THERE'S a
movie!...

I love the imaginative soundscape here, all the diverse elements
somehow finding one planet to stand on. Accessible and catchy, even
as nothing is what one would expect... Nice low chant drone in there...
Percussion as always, on the money...

You know, I'm always perked up when I come home and see something
of yours on the Mail screen...

Wow, you're too kind, thank you Ed! Haha, I like your movie idea... watch
those blades. But, like fire dancing and poi swinging, I think sword forms
could go perfectly with the music. And add a little drama to the place.
Actually, if we could get some multifarious hindu deities on the dance floor
that would complete the scene. I think the spirit of Dogen would work closely
with Tadashi, but I might be intimidated by the two of them... his rhythm
sections are already light years ahead of me, what could I offer? And
Tadashi's really good too, hahaha! Seriously, a good idea though... Thanks
for your excellent com(pli)ments, I'm very pleased you like this.

fluttering bassline. A really good soundtrack piece. I could even see this
on a National Geographic piece. I envision Panthers running!

Had to crank this one up- and D/L as well. You have so many great

David, somehow your music has a tendency to stretch a smile accross my face until there's no more elasticity and I have no choice but to release w/ laughter - It's a feel good laugh - And then as I'm writing this, I don't know where the tears are coming from - Nothing sad about it at all - I think that this just makes me abit too happy to be back and w/ you guys - I'm just full of emotions - And this is just another dam breaker - I liked what Jiguma said - This would be great just before a really bad assed concert was about to take over the crowd - Yeah, about now we have been puffed AND fluffed... - LOL - And now we are ready... -Thanks buddy! And thanks for all of your kind words - Peace - Dion

Hey thanks, glad you like the energy in this song! I enjoyed putting it together and I'm really happy with the way it sounds (though, now after listening to it a few million times, I have a few updates I want to mix in... eventually). I have a strong tendancy to make very busy mixes, but I don't want that muddiness... so I try to take care to separate out the pieces by frequency and spatial location. If two tracks seem to be doing a lot of clashing, I will use EQ to make them dominate different frequency ranges, or pan one left and one right so they are more distinct. So that's my secret (shh!) Thanks for listening, Serena!

PV,
This is great. Techno is not usually my cup of java, but this one put the hooks in me early on and never let go, it just keeps taking to other worlds, exploding off into the strata of another planet just as you settle into orbit around it---BLAM---thruster rockets kick in and BOOM you are off and hurtling through the cosmos to another destination. Really cool piece. Dnl'd and fav'd.
