Description:
This very short song is from a musical I've been working on entitled "Gridlock". The character singing this song, Anne, became a nun after her unfaithful husband left her destitute. She sings this song after seeing her exhusband for the first time in 5 years.
This tune features Christine CS Walker on vocals. Artwork by Chasm
Lyrics:
Lord, take away my anger.
Help me to forget his face for good.
Do I need another test, to prove my life is yours?
Almighty God, don't forsake me.
Thy will is done now please let me be.
I'm not saying I can understand but in my heart I fear you're just another man.
It was through your call I'm saved; you turned my life around.
But now being lost is no worse than being found.

This composition has wonderful melodic symmetry, with
nice chord substitutions, and a perfect balance of
surprises and repeated intervals. Nice crystal vocals. I
can see you two at the spinet (nice job Christine!) hugging
after this fine performance. Sweet, succinct, precise
writing. Wonderful. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks Tobin! And you hit it on the head - the character at the end of this song really, really needs a hug! But since Christine was nice enough to find time in her schedule and convince her husband to watch the kids to help me out with this tune, I just couldn't subject her to a hug from me!! LOL! short but sweet &mdash 07/08/04 - 10:22:13 AM
VERY nice songwriting and well performed!
I wish it were just a bit longer....I didn't want it to end!
Great job. [ Reply to This ]
Standing Ovation! &mdash 07/09/04 - 12:12:53 AM
I agree, I didn't want it to end. Very emotional. Christine, I bow to you. Your vocal instument is exquisite! (That ending note was so pure!) The melody worked very well with the lyrics. Standing Ovation! [ Reply to This ]
Sing it girl! &mdash 07/14/04 - 08:48:15 AM
yes, being lost is a way to find a path you never new was there. i always find it burdensome, unwanted memory. i say these people from my past don't matter anymore, i say let go, but anger is the hardest isn't it? you have a great combination of vulnerableness and anger and desire for change in your voice. thanks. A beautiful piece. I am wondering what your
inspiration was for this song. It is so refreshing to
hear a song in this genre. Yours is especially
enjoyable--your wonderful (full of vitality) voice
captured my attention.

I am now just correcting my above post. You are obviously not the singer. I
didn't read the entire song description. Kudos to Christine. And again to you
for your fine work.
