Description:
A universal song about dealing with frustration...feeling overwhelmed and then realizing we are not alone on the world...there's a higher source to turn to.

Lyrics:
I get up outta bed
Same ol thoughts
Fill my head
Things I shoulda coulda done
Yesterday
A new tomorrow stretches far
We're never livin where we are
Single cycle spinnin like a cosmic albatross
We're always lost
I'm stuck inside my selfish chains
This cage I built
I have not changed
My life is like a storybook
When I stop to look
Can I live without my fears
It's heavy draggin thirty years
Any time I want I can stop
And turn it over

It seems I never learn
Imperfect circle as I turn
Every now and then I catch a glimpse
Of progress
And common sense
I need remindin that it's up to me
And findin my way
Is a trip I'll take every day

Some days you just don't feel right
You feel so wrong
But you can turn it over

Boy, this song really pulls you in. Great job. Big production and
extremely slick. Are there other people playing on this with you? It'd be
nice to have more details.
Welcome to MacJams, by the way, from another newbie--I also started up
this week.

Stunning!! &mdash 08/17/06 - 05:54:46 PM
From the first time I heard this song I've always felt it was your own
Purple Rain, great songwriting, great singing, and excellent heartfelt
lyrics. There seems to be something for everyone on this one, so
universal is the theme. As always...a masterpiece.

Raised the bar! &mdash 08/18/06 - 07:37:38 AM
Amazing pro sound Heather - welcome to MJ btw. Impossible to fault
this. Would be interested to hear who's in the band, what they use,
software and that sort of stuff. What can I say - excellent song,
arrangement, playing, vocals, production. Your arrival here has lifted
the bar. Thanks, Neil

This is completely 10's for me. I first heard your incredible music from
some of your tracks that Hectorius played on and posted here. My chin
was on the floor then as it is now. If I was to aspire to anything, it
would be able to write, perform, and produce music as good as this.

timing &mdash 08/19/06 - 05:30:34 PM
you have it all.

Great timing, phrasing.... and what a great voice:)
How would I love to be in that band of yours.
You guys are the best soul treat on this site, or what ever I've been listening to in such genres lately.

You've been fan'd:)

Awww, I'm gonna get a big head here! Just kidding-there is so much
shared credit for these songs.
Some background: Once again, huge props to TMRSoul. He played bass,
guitar, sax, some keyboard pads and sang on this track. My little song
ideas grow up under his hands! The very talented Darrell Nutt is on
drums, and the various string patches, organs, etc. are from a mixture of
the Triton and Motif keyboards. It's so cool to connect with people
through music and I'm on my way to your profiles to return the love.
Thanks for your ears and your encouraging words!

Can I join the chorus? &mdash 08/20/06 - 08:20:46 PM
of people who think this is a first class song and a 10 all the way.
I love your lyrics. When a song in this genre can reach a 50 plus year
old grey-haired white guy, it proves the universality of your lyrics and
of your song.

for what it's worth &mdash 08/21/06 - 09:51:52 AM
you've got a new fan here... I listened to "all I know" yesterday and was
blown away... I can see that was no fluke... you have such an intuitive
feel for what you are doing... you are world class. A real Macgem here!
Your production and performance are soooo gooood that, I overlooked
how strong your lyric is (wonderful)... and everything starts there as far
as I'm concerned

10's from your new fan (most songs on MJ get one listen from me...
yours I've listened to multiple times... what do I owe you???)

Fantastic. &mdash 08/22/06 - 07:46:38 PM
I love your voice. This is so well recorded. Obviously a professional
studio recording?

Thanks Nolan! &mdash 08/23/06 - 10:54:13 AM
We actually recorded this in 3 separate home studios: myself, TMRSoul and
Darrell Nutt. These guys are supertalented and also on MacJams, so be sure to
look them up. They both have amazing material to share. I'll be checking out
your music later on...looking forward to it!

Very impressive &mdash 08/23/06 - 05:23:36 PM
Add me to the list of people blown away by this song -- singing first and
foremost, production, overall feel, sax solo, etc.). All 10's.

The only part that I'm not so sure about is the very first few seconds--the
strings sound just isn't up to the quality of the rest of the mix, but it's no
big deal because (a) it isn't really much of a problem, and (b) the other
instruments come in over it very quickly, at which point you don't notice
the sound quality of that string patch at all.

First class work by everyone involved in this!

thanks Clark &mdash 08/23/06 - 08:22:29 PM
We appreciate the listen-I know what you mean about the strings...it's tough
when mostly everything else is "real"-at times I don't mind when things are
obviously sampled, if it adds a cool quality or texture. In this instance, at least
they aren't out there too long alone...Thanks and happy musicmaking!
