Description
On my first cd, I recorded "What Is A Groove?". Three years later I come across a vocal sample of an old school jazz man talking about "How Jazz cannot be learned in a college or university, but has to be lived, not taught". The sample was almost identical to my manipulation of spoken word. I was Freaked! I had to put this new sample in a track. Higher Education became that track. Enjoy!

Wonderful flute
Great flute work. Who is it? In fact, the whole band is hip. I dig the mix of
perc sounds used on this track, really nice effect. Not sure if repeating the
spoken sample is as strong as stating it just once, yet I dig the way it lines
up the second time and the way you use it at the very end. Solid NuJazz
groove and clear, quality production. When is "Funky Sea, Funky Dew"
gonna post? Next time you guys come to NYC, let us know!

Wonderful flute
The flute is (screeeech!)... a group of samples that I edited. The Jazz breakdown
is the only live drums (recorded with one mic for effect). FSFD is working on
some original material so, for now (since we do mostly funky jazz covers) we
really can't post on Macjams. We will have a LIVE cd of our club performances as
time permits me to mix it! Also, I will have some more "Real Drum" stuff coming
soon to MJ. I just wanted to get most of the electronia stuff online here first.

Thanks again for the great comments!

Uber Funk
Love the groove, love the keys and the spoken word sections are so
perfect. I like the string breakdowns there in between too, nice and
tasty. Flute gives this song a pleasant sweetness that contrasts well
with the dark chocolate musings of the minor chord changes. Nice
work on this one brotherman, you know how to let the groove speak!

really cool...
Spoken word mixed in a melange of jazzy sounds is quite a different
experience, a very pleasant one. Love the melody.. it has a nice smooth
flow and rhtyhm and the sounds mix altogether in a very cool way.
Enjoyed this song from beginning to end.
