Lyrics
pretty as a velvet elvis lying in a garbage bin - bright as a burned out bulb in a light that's not plugged in - never had a chance to pin your pretty flower on - you've never been a beauty for the gentlemen to call upon.

you're sitting in the parlor with a dance card in your hand - but nobody's been penciled in, you're not a hot demand - you're looking from the ceiling to the pricetag on your shoes - better put away the party dress, there's nobody here for you.

ooo, baby don't waste your time or be a victim of a thoughtless kind. time will tell you that it's plain to see that you belong with me.

look out the window on a cold november day - there's no one but yourself to keep the loneliness at bay - take a look out the window, love, I'll still be standing there - with affliction in my eye and a flower for your hair.

ooo, baby, don't waste your time or be a victim of a thoughtless mind - time will tell you that it's plain to see....you belong with me.

you belong with me.

you belong with me
fun track. Nice job on the vox, lead and background. Instrumentation is
top notch with a simple staitforward facade but lots of cool subtle
production devices going on.

Great personality though
I especially like the drums on this one. What did you use for drums? Love
the old school feel, the solid and well-balanced production, writing,
performance. Except for the sitar, this sounds like a real band all the way,
nothing synthetic. Wondered why the sitar (especially when highlighted at
the end), it made specific images spring up in my head (a wall flower
slinking along the edge the dance floor in a berka trying to find the
restroom) which may not have been your intent. Loved the lyrics "victim of
a thoughtless kind.../ mind" all rhyming with the never used "crime."
Again, really solid track.

Great personality though
jam pack drum loops. (mostly from the "rhythm section" set)

i think I used a santoor loop, not sitar - not sure why. I think I just liked the
combination and that it was a weird thing to throw in there. I like Indian music
(there's a tabla loop in there too) I like your image of a berka looking for a
bathroom! That made me laugh!

thanks for listening.

I'm in Clark (Union County) not too far south from where you grew up. I know why you went out there and stayed. My cousins (one in San Fran), moved from Newark when they were kids. My cousin Jim lives in SF, and is a musician. Your work Bri continues to impress me, and maybe unlike others here, I DO LISTEN TO IT while driving. Now have 5 tracks on my pod.
Keep up the great work. Hey Brian, think about the greatest band ever (the beatles) - now think about how many bands tried and failed to bring their sound. Oasis pisses me off to this day...only because they need to look like them. Keep bringin it! Feel really good about what you're putting out here. Ron

All kinds of guitar flavors
Hey Brian,

Your use of various guitar tones is amazing. This tune features fat
grungy ones with the leads thin and stringy sounding. What an arsenal of
tones you've created, sounds like you're having fun too.

Wow.
I was reading the lyrics and how well constructed the song in terms of its
message. The performance aint shabby either. Topnotch all around! This
has pro quality written all over it. It reminds me of a composition from
Sheryl Crow , one of my favorite songwriters of all time.
