Description
One of a collection of songs that I wrote entitled "Funetics". These songs were recorded with my daughter when she was in 3rd grade (she graduated high school this year... sigh) and I actually used them to help both of my children learn some of the fundamentals of reading. Low tech recording and not the best of mixes but maybe there are some little Macjammers out there who,. like my kids, can learn from them.

Lyrics
Silly Silent “E” (words and music by Richard Blauvelt)
Sometimes vowels sound different
Sometimes they say their names
Sometimes a word will end with “e”
And have a vowel sound change
Please don’t be discouraged
By a word that ends with “e”
There is a simple rule I know
To read these words with ease
Look for Silent “e”
At the end of a word he’ll be
He won’t make a sound but another vowel is found
To say it’s name you see
One day in the kitchen
Your mom may bake a cake
Without an “e” she’d bak_ a cak_
Now doesn’t that sound great
If silent “e” is missing
The bell would chim_ not chime
The cake would burn because the clock told tim_ instead of time
So look for silent “e”
At the end of a word he’ll be
He won’t make a sound but another vowel is found
To say it’s name you see
You rise up in the morning
You wake up lat_ not late
You quickly dress but without “e”
Your right sock has no mate
You rush down to the kitchen
But there’s no breakfast plate
One sock, one shoe no breakfast it’s all
More than you can take
So look for silent “e”
At the end of a word he’ll be
He won’t make a sound but another vowel is found
To say it’s name you see

Is that an original or a remake?Very nice tune and cool 'low tech' recording-sounds great!
