Description:
this is an updated version of this song. The original is posted here and there is some additional info on the song here too.
due to the overwhelming comments in favor of adding some back-ground vocals i went ahead and added some back-ground vocals. i also made some other minor tweaks while i had the hood open.
well, i must admit, i don't know why i was so insistant on solo voice but i owe you mac jammers a big thank you cuz i think the BGVz are exactly what the doctor oredered. I wanted to make that chorus bigger but there are only so many guitar layers a man can do. the additional vocals to me "push it over the cliff" as Nigel Tufnel would say. Let me know what YOU think!
Thanks.
I have an even newer version of this on myspace right now and it's available for download. I tweaked out some EQ things and i also put more air in the tires.

Lyrics:
SPINNING©2006 Ray Kainz
As my head starts spinning
paying the price of sin
carrying on like deaf bats in the night
flying to who knows where
I find it quite amazing
I find my way home
every once in a while
I'd never make it without your light
as dim as it seems sometimes
sometimes it seems so dim
or are my eyes just closed again
can I sleep when love's claiming its win
can I sleep while a new song is stirring within
as I sit here spinning
I can't aford to sleep again
but I think that it'll be all right
my shining star will light the way tonight
just stay awake and let love win the fight
remember darkness always flees from light
don't say good night
we gotta stay awake all night
tonight
let's just get through the night
you and i
we gotta stay awake all night
we gotta a lotta love to make
we gotta stay awake all night
we gotta a lotta love to make
we gotta a lotta lotta love to make
we'll make enough love for everyone....

The extra vocals make it easier for me to fall into the emotionally
compelling parts, they carry me away, pull me in, let the swirl of
remembered love spin me thru your music into my own daydreams, and
suddenly the song is too short! You could have kept singing... making
even more love for everyone... Nice add.
eleveneyes
thanks Tobin. i must agree, i do like the added vocals and I have you among
others to thank for that!

this is an outstanding work, eleveneyes. your arrangement and trackwork
is on par with pop greats-fountains of wayne are coming to mind. the
guitars are flawless and i'm so into your drumming i can barely stand
myself. your grooves are so tight when the sections change. the chorus
absolutely soars-i didn't hear it w/out bgv's and i don't think i could now!
your harmonies are so dialed in-just a phenomenal track overall. thanks
for sharing your work!
eleveneyes
Thanks for your time and thoughts Heather. First of all, allow me to welcome
you to MacJams, your two recent contribution are both outstanding! Regarding
this song - no need to hear the non-BGV version - this one is much better.

All the basic qualities are still left in this version! Let me fav and download
this one to!

Added vocals give it depth.
Man, you work fast!
Another great Kainz tune.
I snagged it.
eleveneyes

...and extra crisp. Excellent writing, production and performance. Super tight and dynamic. Pleasure to hear some new stuff from you.
eleveneyes
hope it's not too crisp. I did mix this with only one working tweeter so that was
my fear. plus i've been working on this tune alomost non-stop and my ears are
shot! Thanks for stopping by AquilA.

I feel like I am listening to this band on Letterman! The added vocals are
what it needed. Nice call MJ community!

turn around on this. but man, it sure jumps out. great mixing the bkgrnd
vcls in. thats one of the hardest things to squeeze in. with distorted gtrs.
Fantastic job!
eleveneyes
surprisingly, mixing in these BGVz were a breeze. I duplicated an existing vocal
channel for the new backing tracks, I sang the parts then turned the volumes
down. I didn't play with the EQ or nothing. I couldn't believe it. sometime I just
get lucky i guess!

eleveneyes

but I have to agree with Tobin... the BGV brought the emotional
dynamic level up for me... such an exellent track...on par with "How I'd
Love to" an all time fav

Wonderful and great! This is highly advanced and artful music! Your way
of singing reminds me bitwise of 10cc during the 70-ies (a highly positive
association). You've definitely got a new fan here!
eleveneyes
here's my reply to what you said in previous version:
wonderful? great? artful? advanced? you talkin' about my music?
thanks a ton for your comments. i really really appreciate it!

Sounds pro, as I could only expect from you. Haven't seen you here in a
long time and this comeback(?) song is really a very strong announcement
of your return. This is right up there, if not better, than any of your
previous performances and compositions. The instrumental performance
is really topnotch. The bass and drums are outstanding with a very clean
sound prodcution overall.
eleveneyes
yeah, I've been hideing out lately. you know how summer can be. boating and
beaches can be much more appealling than sitting in front of my computer
sometimes but yes I'm back and I thought I'd better return withe my best foot
forward. I do agree that this is probably a notch up from my previous
submissions on many levels but I feel that each of my submissions gets a little
better as they go along. thanks in part to all my friends here at MacJams and
their wonderful comments, critiques and encouragement. Thanks Leon for your
time and thoughts!

This version with the backups kicked 'er up into the stratosphere.
They "win" me as I listen, making the song much more fun and much
more... well fun! Now I gotta replace the other version on my Pod with
this one..... all the difficulties in life.
Again, just a top notch #1 song.
ziti
your stuff always sounds so perfect to me. Not really my cup-o-tea,
but done so remarkably well i can just be in awe. You get a huge, fat
sound that is so clear and pleasing! great song, great playing.
really great work

Now I'm going to have to look all your components up and put them on
my wish list. The guitar sounds superb. Every thing is well balanced. Are
you using any guitar settings in GB? The backup vocals are a major plus
and makes this song way more appealing. You have a very nice voice and
your writing skill are fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

It really is.
Your stuff always has such a professional sound to it. Quite admirable,
really.
A definate fav and a DL!

If we had even a clue how you do this...very impressed!

Lovely work here - fantastic recording and production, I especially love
the guitar sounds. The vocals (and backing vox) work a treat - reminded
me a little of New Order at the start.
To my ears, this is radio-ready, with more hooks than a boat-load of
fishermen - it's a down load!
Steve
ktb
better. There's so much pop power here. Just incredible song writing.
The recording itself is impeccable. The tones you capture with your
guitar work is fantastic. The twists and turns, the progression and now
the BVGz just make this soar. I hope you don't mind my previous
analogy to Thomas Dolby, its just that you write in such a dramatic
style, that is a personal fav to me.

This sounds like something you'd find in my CD collection. Thanks for making me laugh. It's a good thing.

Great track. Tons of pop sensibility and loads of melody. Everything sounds really crisp, too. Diggin it!
