Description:
I am again assuming that these lyrics are in the public domain, I have researched my library, and each version I have by each artist, lists a different author. First time i heard them was a pbs concert film featuring lightnin hopkins (one of the most underappreciated of the old school IMO)...all the versions i've heard have been done very slowly...dirgelike.

I am battling some health issues...nothing seriously serious but enough to feel crappy, and creating this shuffle was a nice diversion.

You need to look Mr.FeelCrappy right in the face and go "nyahh-nyahh".

Just for a bit of fun here, nothing earthshattering. I song i would play at a live show...featuring Bryan Bishop on bass and Patrick FUTZPUCKER Feehan on the keyboards. I am coaxing an ancient bluesman out of the good reverand Feehan, and it is delightful!

Peace to all my friends....dance around for 3 minutes and give Mr FeelCrappy the finger!

no matter who wrote them lyrics. Just fabulous guitar stylings and
Patrick shines with the key work. That organ and piano work is the
magic spicy sauce that floats the ruby aroma in the house. Mr.
Feelcrappy sulks home alone.

Australian tour? &mdash 08/22/06 - 05:59:07 PM
Good to see you doing some playing Fran - very nice Hammond from
Patrick - just LOVE blues Hammond!!!!!! Sure would like to see a live
show Fran - when's your Australian tour again? : )
What can I say? Ruby sounds sweet - you're in your element - great
blues!
Peace,
Neil

Australian tour? &mdash 08/22/06 - 06:25:30 PM
Boy...put some shrimps on the barbie!!!

I love to play a shuffle. In a band that plays this type of stuff, this is heaven
to play live for me. It is really hard to get any of the natural excitement that
this simplest of forms brings to a live situation. But with the addition of
Patricks keys, i can get more of the density i feel live. Patrick is one of god's
better works!

Down home and bluesy &mdash 08/22/06 - 07:04:44 PM
bluesy like they do it down south. Very soulfully crappily so Mr. FeelCrappy. Nice, as usual, guitar riffing and string bending blues.
cheers

Wonderful drive &mdash 08/23/06 - 03:55:40 PM

The guitar solo part has a wonderful drive! A sheer joy to hear you diggin
down this southern style. (Heard you makin a short Dicky Betts quotation
in there (great fav)).

My association is that this song wants to get somewhere. It is heading
forwards. Fresh air is coming in ahead.

Be well my friend!

This really smokes.... &mdash 08/23/06 - 08:57:08 PM
It ought to chase away what every is ailing you. Awesome.

Hope you feel better soon.

Your vocal.... &mdash 08/23/06 - 09:53:21 PM
...reminds me of Johnny Winter on this one...

Sounds like you're having fun with the key changes. Reminiscent of
those Clapton versions of "Further On Up The Road"....

Sounds very band-like to me. Bryan's an anchor, here as always. Neat
blues organ and piano... It also sounds at a point or two almost like
you're phrasing like you're playing slide, even though you're not
playing slide.

Are you the guy doing the sketching, too? Like the 'Dagadella' sketch...

I'll admit to not being a big shuffle fan, but I think I know what you
mean about the form; I've sometimes heard shuffles that cooked live,
but when I've listened to them on record they seem to lose some the
live-ness.

I've been thinkin' of ya this week... Hope you're on at least the road to
recovery...

Your vocal.... &mdash 08/24/06 - 06:45:41 AM
yes...i can hear the white dude in the singing...i like johnnys singing more
than his playing, although his later blues recordings, especially the sessions
he produced for Muddy Waters (Hard Again) are amongst the best blues
records I've heard. He also has recorded as much really GREAT stuff as he
has cliched rock...

I hope you got some nice music time in on your Vaykay, and all is well with
you. And, beware the mighty deer tick...

peace my friend

oh yeah... &mdash 08/24/06 - 07:12:17 AM
thanks for noticing...I am actively trying to work out parts and licks that
sound like a slide guitar, or even full on pedal steel. That is one of the nice
things about the PRS wammy sytem. It is precise enough and controlable
enough to play stuff with it, not just sound effects. It is really hard. But I
think it sounds very cool, so what the hell? Trying to come up with a new
twist playing the blues, and still have it sound like blues....it's a trick.

I have never heard a recorded shuffle have the intensity of a really GOOD
blues band laying down a shuffle live. A shuffle live and in good hands, can
build in intensity to the spiritual level, and drive a group of alchohol
influenced people totally nuts.

The other trick to me with a shuffle, is coming up with a set of lyrics or
melody to make the shuffle a song...

But, yeah...If you can listen to BB's band laydown a good shuffle and not be
moved, then, man, you already dead!

I had my fun, too &mdash 08/23/06 - 11:05:31 PM
Like everyone else, Fran, I hope you're feeling better. I can tell you this
- I felt great after playing along with your always skilled and soulful
guitar tracks.

I highly appreciate the kind and generous comments made here about
the keyboard parts by these wonderful musicians.

I am honored to add keys to Fran's fine fret work. The guy knows the
blues, feels the blues, and plays the hell out of the blues.

Thanks for allowing me to be part of this song, Zeets.

you have become a very good friend. I feela s though we may be
brothers from a different mother!....I know that if you lived around
here, my search for the right keyboard guy would be over.

Thanks for all the encouragement and support...you are DA BOMB!

sounds like your still havin' fun &mdash 08/25/06 - 06:12:23 AM
I love blues that keep this drive and energy... you have really captured
a live vibe here (I don't know how you recorded this) But live is always
the best setting for blues... Z you have mentioned before that blues
inherently receive low scores for creativity and originality... but as a
guitar player I can hear that you are not simply laying out a bunch of
stock licks here... your phrasing is fresh and suprising as well as very
musical and technically superb.. and as for Patrick... it didn't sound like
you had to do much coaxing... I think he hit the floor running

3 minutes is not enough time to spend away from Mr. FeelCrappy... I
hope you get feelin' well (Real Well)

Two links &mdash 08/25/06 - 10:46:43 AM
When in doubt, I have used these two links.
One is a BMI ASCAP search and one is a list of songs ( I don't know how complete) in the public domain.

Tasty licks! &mdash 08/25/06 - 02:34:40 PM
Mmmm... makes me feel like I should grab a big napkin, getting all this
tasty blues all over the place! Fun sketch too, Mr. RenaissanceMan! Futz
did a great job on the various keyboards too, nicely mixed, and as always,
hated to hear the fade-out right after the key-change, but hey, what can
a listener do but just roll his eyes and sigh when its over. Get better
soon!

To heck &mdash 08/26/06 - 11:57:39 AM
with Mr. FeelCrappy... I hate that guy. And I know he can't stand a good shuffle like this, even if it's a blues tune. Excellent jam, the guitar, bass, drums and keys all blended into a great live jam feel. I think you have the right voice for blues like this. Nice going, zetes, and tasty guitar playing as always!

Can't be heard &mdash 08/28/06 - 02:48:28 PM
I sure don't hear Mr. FeelCrappy in this one - not one bit!
This is just an excellent jam!
The drumming, the bassing, the guitaring and the keyboarding just sound
excellent. I have to agree with jiguma - Blues Hammond is a joy to hear!
An excellent collaboration and a bullet-proof addition to my library!
Get well soon, Z!

Wow! &mdash 08/29/06 - 06:00:01 PM
Ziti, you're the man, buddy. I'm blown away by your playing. Thanks a million for checking out my music. Your words mean a lot to me. I've been trying to post a response for a couple days now, but every time I go to do it, I get a message that the comment page on Macjams is down. So I figured that this was the only way to do it. Again, thanks for posting your music and for the great comments.

Love the blues &mdash 09/26/06 - 03:38:42 PM
The breaks into another key into the awesome guitar solo are super, stepped it up to a notch to drive the chills up and down the spine.
