Description:
I blame Mungo.
No...blame's not the right word.
Ok. It's Mungo's fault.
Every time I seem to tackle adding to a Mungo piece, I end up with something slightly mysterious and maybe a little creepy. :)
While I've had Mungo's instrumental in a GB folder for months and months, inspiration finally struck this past week, and I took it and put some vocals to it.
I attribute my treatment on this to the fact that I've been writing some music lately for 'guided imagery' meditations.
Don't operate heavy machinery while listening to this. Trust me, I've about fallen asleep while trying to finish this up.
PS: thanks, Mungo, for a terrific instrumental to build upon.
Incidentally, according to Mungo's notes: " The main melody is based upon the phrase "I am feeling number than before."
Enjoy!

deserves its own genre &mdash 08/24/06 - 08:49:38 AM
Another fine addition to Mungo's transcendant landscape, Number,
which truly deserves its own genre on MJ. I think this is the 5th
version?
Whenever I hear this piece it reminds me of a golden age.
Cat, your version also reminds me that "nummer" is what my son used
to call his bottle when he was a baby. Such a funny word.
Excellent work. I especially like the whispering toward the end. My only
suggestion, as we discussed, is to consider leaving the main voice
somewhere in the center - instead of panning it left and right. [ Reply to This ]
You're Welcome &mdash 08/24/06 - 09:53:34 PM
And, Tom, I guess anything on the Internet longer than 12 months is
"golden age". LOL.
Cat, thank you for your interpretation of this to add to my collection. [ Reply to This ]
Inspiration? Oh yeah... &mdash 08/26/06 - 10:47:52 PM
Mungo's original piece blew me away. You have increased it's power by
finding the perfect words exquisitely delivered. Nice job Cat.
Be well!

As Tom says &mdash 08/27/06 - 02:14:39 AM
I've missed out on a lot lately - this is a very good relaxation
production Mysti - I can imagine it being used in lots of situations at
work (although I don't go there anymore). I haven't heard Mungo's
original, but this is very nicely done indeed. As Tom says - deserves
it's own genre.

Boy, I leave for a few months, come back, and you're still impressing the heck out of me Cat. My iTunes is going to pop at the seams from all the stuff I have of yours in it.
This one really mellows me out. Not to a state of sleepiness, though I don't know if I wanted to wind down this early in the evening! The "digital buttons" as I call it kinda throw a few ball bearings in the gears as I listen, but fortunately they fall away fast enough that they don't become overwhelming.
Once again, a great exploratory piece. Thanks much. [ Reply to This ]
