Great vocal performance here. A nice solid, solid song to boot. My only
uncertainty with this track is the string arrangement. There are some
better string samples out there these feel a bit too electronic to me.
However, everything else is pretty much perfect. You've got a voice like
satin. All the live instruments are nicely captured.

sometimes, more often than not lately, mac jams is graced with great
music and Heather Brooks is responsible for that yet again with this
supurb track. Not only is the performance on every level top notch but the
production is fantastic. Everything is large and warm which is always nice.

Sometimes a seemingly simple tune is able to straddle genres in just the right way to become a cross-over hit. This just could be yours. Wonderful Alicia Keys feel. But when those backing vocals kick in, man, SO GOOD. Is that Mike? I dig the way you just sing it, the words just come to you in this honest verse way, and then that GREAT chorus kicks in and you carry me away. So far, you are an ALL TIMES winner. I dug the little connecting riffs on the keyboard, they made me smile and in each instant I saw the whole band in your head as well as the men that have caused sometimes sadness in you. Such a nice track.

You are the complete package for me... There are many musicians on
MJ... we all bring to the table whatever we have... and I often appreciate
one's producing, or another's voice.... one will have great chops... you
have such a feel for what a song really is... that I look past all those
considerations... and get drawn in... not that you aren't excellent
technically, but there is more to your stuff... your songs are really
about something and you don't just go 1/2 way there... any way this
was very personal for me... "it's not every day's purpose
to make us glad"... heartbreak changed the trajectory of my life more
than 1/2 a lifetime ago... and there is not a day that I'm not thankful
for that severe mercy

Wow, everything is so well done...excellent composition. I voted it all 10's but have only one little thing that I heard and wished was filled up, like a bit of a missing piece. In the part following "sometimes a tear's supposed to fall; sometimes the devil's gonna call...." I kept wanting to hear the conclusion to that thought, but instead the repeated image I received was "sometimes," which I already understood from the previous message. I would love to hear the climax and conclusion, like you know sometimes that bad shit will happen, but you are stronger and recover and become the hero because of it or a better person. So a simple one line phrase following those two lines instead of repeating the "sometimes" parts is what I kept want to hear. That in my mind finishes the story on a positive note and people like happy endings! Great tune and great singing/production.
