Cool jam &mdash 08/27/06 - 01:01:47 PM
I imagine raunchy horns played over some of the rhythm sections. Nice jamming, Aqui--has some nice spy theme feel going on in some of those sections. I can certainly imagine developing on some of the rhythm sections; vocals, more lead guitars, other instruments. I could be persuaded to make an Alloy mix of this, if you're interested. I hope this storm season ain't as bad as the last one. [ Reply to This ]

good structure i liked the reprise of the theme and different gtr tones. the
ending though kind of drops. cool song though.

So, how can I persuade you? I would've gone that route from the
beginning but you were busy with the CD and I thought I should be a big
boy and put something out there on my own. However, I know just how
much improvement you could bring to this so please consider yourself
persuaded. Vocals would be great too.

Thanks for the listen Vic, and glad you enjoyed it. As far as the ending
'dropping' could you be more specific? Is it the very ending or the fact
that it doesn't fade, or that it revisits the main theme? Just looking for
some corrective criticism. [ Reply to This ]
solid rock song &mdash 08/27/06 - 01:45:49 PM
Wow, Aqui man, this is a damned solid track. Great guitar playing, but that should not surprise me after what I've heard from you on 'you're so nice'. I enjoyed this sure and had to play it more than once...

i guess i should of said it stops to abruptly. it reminds me of my dad

sustaining or something of that nature. [ Reply to This ]

Fused &mdash 08/27/06 - 06:12:31 PM
This starts out with a really nice rocking sounding guitar but actually I
kind of think it transitions a bit into fusion. Very cool... I like it fused.
Great guitar work. It's like one wave after another. Way to go, really cool
tune. Thanks for sharing...

Cool riffs, wicked storm &mdash 08/27/06 - 06:33:09 PM
This has great change ups - ending is clipped but hey you could go on like that indefinitely with the cool guitar licks on top of that bed of rock. Horns? yeah I think that would go well too. Comment - drums dwelled on the left.... intentional?
Nice job, rockin'

Glad you dug the sound. I wasn't going for anything imparticular, I'm not
that organized, and this is what came out. Thanks for the listen. I do love
fusion though, so it's nice to hear I might be operating in that domain. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for the listen hr, glad you dug the rock. The ending is clipped,
and if another version is done, I'll correct that. Thanks again for checking
this out. [ Reply to This ]

Nice riffs &mdash 08/31/06 - 05:34:01 PM
Nice, catchy riffs and pretty good playing.
That main riff really reminds me of something... something from my
childhood...
...can't quite place it...
It's good, though! :)

Heavy Weather &mdash 08/31/06 - 07:14:07 PM
Nice stuff man! Really sweet guitar playing. Good tones and lots of em ...
I love when there are a lot of different guitars going on and they all have
slightly different tones. I particularly dug the solo near the end that sort
of sounded like you were playing through a wah wah without moving the
pedal?! Cool. [ Reply to This ]

good playing and this definitely has the rock....I'm just not crazy about
that guitar tone....a bit to hissy and buzzy which makes it come across as
dated....sorry for the criticism but the playing is good....peace....Ian Baird [ Reply to This ]

The intro sounds like the old spiderman cartoon theme song. Pretty rockin song!!!!!!!
Great guitar soloing very old school Joe Satriane Steve Vi like.

Re: Spiderman? &mdash 09/17/06 - 11:49:16 AM
Wow, I hear that influence now! What a riot! Thanks to DeRock and you for
pointing it out. Maybe that's what Einarus meant when he was trying to
remember something from his childhood. Well, it certainly wasn't intentional.
I'll have to find that and compare. Thanks for the kind comments. Don't know
about Vai or Satriani, but, even though I don't hold a candle to the man's myriad
talents, there was definitely a serious attempt to imagine WWMD? (What Would
McBoy Do?) For better or worse, this is what shook out. Thanks again for
stopping by. [ Reply to This ]
What PV said! &mdash 09/17/06 - 07:16:19 PM
Raunchy horns, more of everything, push the drums, add avocal and
you've got a killer tune here. I look forward to David's remix - should
be excellent.

I want to ask you if I could play w/ your song - I hear those raunchy
horns too - This could be your opportunity to pay me back for being
such a turd - I like this - Exciting comes to mind - But that's what
comes to mind everytime I hear your handywork - I really want to play
w/ this - I can't at this very very moment, but soon - I'm inspired my
friend - Man I love the tones that you get out of your gtar - A very cool
track, sir - I'm so glad to know you're making music. Thanks Sledge -

diggin this &mdash 09/19/06 - 08:16:42 PM
very jam based. sounds like you have a real drummer/bass player? very
cool. Especially the phat sound your getting on the guitar. almost a
trower leslied type thing. I love it. real solid rock track [ Reply to This ]
Re: Digging This &mdash 09/20/06 - 12:09:24 PM
Glad you liked it. I was going for a loose kind of jam feel, glad it was achieved.
I wish the bass player and drummer were real. The bass was played on an m-
audio keyboard and tweaked with the pencil tool. The drums are two tracks,
one a modified GB2 midi loop and the other penciled midi for accents. I seem to
never achieve a guitar tone I actually like. I finally fed my PODxt with the a tube
preamp and got a pretty good sound for the main riff. It was still a little harsh
so I softened it up a bit with the chorus effect in GB. Thanks for taking the time
to check this out. [ Reply to This ]
cool tune! &mdash 09/24/06 - 02:29:59 PM
Nice riffs!
Drums sound a little much panned in the left in my opinion.
Other than that it sound good! [ Reply to This ]
Re: Cool Tune &mdash 09/24/06 - 05:49:42 PM
Hey, thanks. I must admit, I'm more than a bit stunted on the production front. I tend to imagine a band playing on a stage and how that would sound without to much to offer from the PA. Sort of silly considering how much is available in GB.

Freakin' rock out &mdash 09/24/06 - 02:59:31 PM
This is the first track of yours I've heard, and it kicked my arse! Lovely
snare sound, and the guitars are played as I can only dream. Only
quibble is the bass, which seemed panned over to the right (I'm a
middle of the road man, myself).
The guitar riff reminded me of the 'Spiderman' theme. Usually I'm a
stickler for structure, but I loved this as it is - it's loose, but still with a
good sense of direction.
Great work, man.

Re: Freakin' Rockin Out &mdash 09/24/06 - 05:53:07 PM
Thanks for checking this out. As I indicated in the comment above I tend to not go to overboard on the production side. I'm generally happy if I can get the individual instruments to sound good and in balance. I will take your suggestion to heart though, maybe the next tune will have the bass upfront and center.

Nice! &mdash 09/27/06 - 01:08:26 AM
I love my PODxt and from the multiple tones in this song that I hear
you do too! The only tone that kind of bugged me was the one that
was panned hard right. Maybe too much presence?
The drums are nice and punchy and the fills are dropped in judiciously.
As much as I like the guitar playing (especially the solo that begins the
last third) I think the bass deserves special mention. Its lively and ties
the piece down so the guitars can do their thing.
I hope you and perceptualvortex do a collab with this. His percussion
expertise will really inject hurricane force into the drums to equal your
excellent guitar work! [ Reply to This ]
