Lyrics:
The radar sweeps the prairieand chatters with the satellites in idle murmurs
The operator dozes off
and swirling cross a field in the din of insect song a cloud of birds
Twilight is forever
we're just passing through
throw us from the center
but hold us close to you
Iridium flare, I saw it
just above Venus and heading for the moon
But the moon went behind Saturn and then I knew
I knew
When I see a shadow fall on the stars
and when I see the wires glint in the dark
Is it blasphemy if I choose to believe
and I forget to laugh at this joke on me
It's quiet on the prairie
hight above, a satellite surveys it's topography
Strange I should take notice in the lines
a nameless rise in all that endless anonymity
Twilight is forever
we're just passing through
throw us from the center
but hold us close to you
Iridium flare, I saw it
just above Venus and heading for the moon
But the moon went behind Saturn and then I knew
I knew
When I see a shadow fall on the stars
and when I see the wires glint in the dark
Is it blasphemy if I choose to believe
and I forget to laugh at this joke on me
When gravity forgets just one little thing
and when the speed of light just stops speeding
If an iridium flare is just a satellite
If the atmosphere doesn't fit quite right
Can the radar see me standing here
on this nameless rise miles from nowhere
Am I a thunder cloud, a flock of birds in the air
or is everything just smoke and mirrors

Wonderful writing, as I said in earlier versions. There are still rhythmic issues, altho less now that you've simplified the perc, but my ears are still seeking perfection within the stark quarter note pulse that is not yet achieved. Still some main vocal placement issues from verse to chours that make your louder passages get farther away. That being said, I really like the backing vocals level now , and the atmosphere achieved.

But I don't think the production is what you want it to be quite yet
either. I know I'm the last one to talk about timing but I think Tobin
has it exactly right.
However, this is arguably your best writing to date, both in words and
music. And that's more than enough for me :)

great song. makes me think of the early ziggy stardust era with your own
style going. and thats a good thing. your songs are always something to
look forward too.

Love youe music Peter, you set such a high standard, there's an innocence
that comes across in the technical detail of the lyrics which is affecting.
It's out there. Beautiful. Aladdin Sane soundscape and Mr Gabriel raises
from the shadows every now and then. Soooper.

I think this is your best song.

There's such a dreamy quality to your voice. The backing tracks
including the occasional space pings are just wonderful. Your song
writing skills really shine here. I hear a little Peter Murphy/Seal with
this track. The progression (or should I say the guitar work) in
particular to me is just perfect. I'm always blown away with someone
who does all the backing tracks themselves sans loops and MIDI its just
too cool

Thanks, Karma. I get such a thrill out of building these songs and
arrangements.

Sounds finished to me friend. This piece reminds me a lot of recent work
by the Scottish band RUNRIG. Perhaps Canada's SPIRIT OF THE WEST as
well. Incredible vox herein! Perhaps the best tune ever posted at
Macjams!
Be well!

Mr. Greenstone your not. You have a great talent I have just
discovered and I enjoy. Your singing and playing are wonderful. I think
the final mix is great.
Nice job,

hey man, I think this is a great tune. First time listener so never heard earlier versions. To me, there is always something to fix, but sometimes the imperfections that are left give the song character that it may not have had otherwise. You have put lots of time into this song and it shows. I like a lot!
this packed such a punch - all i could do was bow my head and gently sob after hearing it. damn, you know how to build a song!
for me, the emotional mood from measure one to the end is what i might play to recapture an emotional memory of something/one i've lost and can never have again. cool spacey reverb on vocal was perfect. the contrast in the gentle to powerful in the presentation was great. "speed of light just stops speeding" - so nice! i enjoyed your unique vocal - you took it thru a wide range of expression with confidence and clarity in an excellent mix. brother, this was INTENSE! bravo - and i look forward to more of your music -- soon as i recover. ;)
