Description:
For years my kids and I have been learning Bible by putting it to music. We call it the "King Jams" as a musical play on ol' King James.

This is one of them.

Lyrics:
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Very nice job here; sounds like quite a lush arrangement, quite
professional-sounding, of what is perhaps the most comforting of all the
psalms. It must be quite stirring to hear this live in church. It makes me
want to try a setting of this some day.

Realy nicely done. I likest it a lot ;-)

I can't be easy to make music to such a well known passage as this (I
know of at least two songs in Swedish based on it). But I think you have
succeeded to make an interesting and fresh song. Uplifting, as
composeclark said.

Nice arrangement and performance.

Good job! &mdash 09/15/06 - 04:20:30 PM
A nice take on a much beloved Psalm. Surely one of David's greatest hits!
Nice vocal harmonies. Keaggy-ish composition works well. Ending is a
tad abrupt though. All in all a fine piece of work!

Be well bro!

I hadn't heard the Keaggy, but you're right. Wish i could play like him, though.

Thanks

i dig this... &mdash 03/20/07 - 05:41:59 PM
the only other time I have heard this was by a band called Deliverance... and theirs was WAY different. This really captures the peace that the psalmist writes of. Excellent job!
