Description:
this is version two with some recomended changes
thanks for all the advise

Lyrics:
i can remember when the streets were filled with children on bikes and the people chilled
on their front porch
with a tiky torch
everybody had a garden and their gardens grew
and walking at dusk you just knew
everything was alright
everybody slept tight
thats the way that it used to be round here
thats the way it used to be
well i say it coming a couple years back
had a little dream
say the attack
then the neighbors flew
something different grew
used to be a park at the end of the street
used to green now its concrete
with a fence all around
trash collects on the ground
every years been a struggle sense then
dont know a soul and nobody plays any songs that i know
and theres a wind that blows
thats not the way that it used to be round here
thats not the way it used to be
week or so ago i woke in the night
i couldn't breath couldn't find the light
thought i heard my mother call
thought i heard her call
she told me about the past
and how nothing ever lasts
she told me about dyeing and how it seemed so fast
then she kissed me on the cheek and wiped away my tears
sun sets down at the end of the street
sometimes its enough just to beat the heat
and let it go
let it go
thats not the way that it used to be round here
thats not the way it used to be
so i patch up the house as it falls apart
it used to be a beacon
it used to be the heart of a dream
of something i dreamed
so i grow a little garden
'plant a little seed
i get what i get
its all that i need
im feeling alive
alive
every time i look its all i see
every time i look its all i see
thats not the way it used to be
thats not the way it used to be

Great song &mdash 08/31/06 - 05:08:12 AM
Great fun, love the song, and the optimism. I agree with the sentiments
and the feelings expressed in the lyrics. Lets hope that sometime in the
future those days come back. Great Song

excellent! &mdash 09/02/06 - 08:56:16 PM
holy cow! fabulous. your lyrics are subtle - as you sing, i feel it in my
heart. lots of symbolic ideas here (on purpose?) i must admit it makes
me feel sad that the world seems to be drifting off to places not as
good as the past. but still there's hope.

i like the sound effects at the end (from reading the comment on the
previous version, i guess that was to hide a mic noise?) but anyway -
the sound effects work really well: it sort of drives the point home: this
is nostaligia.

concepts i really dug:

people having gardens (long-term dreams?)
walking at dusk (and feeling safe?)
something different grew (new ideas replacing old ones?)
concrete v.s green (so-called progress?)
songs that i know (the things i deem important?)
mother (wow - tons of thoughts here!)
let it go (time to stop fighting the changes all around us?)
patching up the house (wow - more symbolic content!)

were the lyrics always "plant a little seed"?

The great... &mdash 09/15/06 - 04:23:41 PM
just got greater! I love both versions of this fine tune. I wish i could sing
like you man. A great vox well suited for storytelling. Nice mix as well.

Take care!

So, I'm 6 months late in making this comment... :-)

Juste wanted to say that I like the improvements over the previous version. Gave it a bit more life, a bit more feeling. Downloaded!
