Description
I toiled over just what genre this track should be placed under and deccided to go with gothic rock......although it doesn't really classify as 'rock' per se, it does however have a kind of moody, gothic feel to it. So, since MacJams doesn't have a plain gothic catagory, I put it here. Anyway, I used GarageBand 3 and the Octopus Au from LinPlug. It gave some nice haunty textures to this track. (I love new software : ) ) Hope you all enjoy. This is a bit of a departure from my usual techno/dance tracks that I tend to post. Let me know what you all think of this and what catagory might fit it better. Peace!

I also wanted to note, that this track is 100% mine. Meaning, that there are NO loops of any kind in this track. Just thought I'd better put that in there for good measure. : )

Good bad and moody
Overall, I like the moody feel of this song, and your pacing... at the 1/2
mark I was thinking "OK, now its time for a change-up" and you did it,
perfect. Ack, you faded out at the end! I always prefer a nice strong
lush build-up to an ending chord, in this case with a couple of church-
bell hits that echo into the night, maybe? Your orchestration choice of
synths is good, but it still needs some work. I think the types of
sounds are good, but the timbres on some are a little grating after a
bit. The opening phased-vibraphoney thing that is doing the 3-note
descending arpeggio starts out sounding really unique and interesting,
but after a couple of measures, I wanted it to morph into something
less astringent... the phaser and tinniness of it began to bore into my
brain quickly. And after the 1/2 mark, you introduce a shimmery high-
pitched synth that has a lot of high-pitched harmonics that got to me,
for some reason. The tempo seemed slightly fast, you may want to see
what happens if you slow it down slightly, give her more time and
breathing room. I liked the percussion, the breathy chorus, and the
great leading chords throughout, this is a wonderful piece that needs
some synthy tweaking!

Those are my thoughts on this intriguing piece...

Hehe! Good Bad & Moody
Thanks much Drak for your great comments. It DOES need work, I
know. Anything that's thrown together in just a couple of hours, will
definitly need lots of tweaking. I agree. I just wanted to post it to see
what constructive criticisms people had, to improve upon this tune.
You've got some really great suggestions that I'd like to implement as
time permits. I had fun making this track, but the real fun comes when
I do all the tweaking to it and hear it evolve into an awesome song. I
also agree with you on the grating issues. I'll see what I can do to it to
make it less grating and more entertaining. The areas that really get
me (in a good way) are about half way throuh when the deep breathy
synthy/voxy things come in. Of course, this is the areas that don't have
the tingy, highly chorused dulcimer-type sound.

Anyway, I thank you again, Drak! You've always given me very useful
feedback that, I feel, has improved my tracks greatly! Much
appreciated! Peace!

To Rob
Thanks much, Rob!! I'm glad you liked it! I agree that a voice (female)
would sound pretty awesome on this trakc, once I get all the little things
worked out. Any volunteers for female vox on this one? Anyway, thanks
again, Rob! Peace! Thanks for stopping by for a listen!

Dark-Wave
at its finest! I don't recall seeing a Boris listed in Depeche Mode. Seriously, I can hear Dave Gahan all over this. I absolutely love this track.

File under Dark Wave.

N.O.W.!!!
Hehe! Thanks for the EXCELLENT compliment! It's not every day I get
compaired to Depeche Mode and Dave Gahan! Wow N.O.W.!!! I'm sooo
glad you enjoyed it! Sometimes I just need to do something dark and
moody to slow things down a bit. Great choice of genre too, BTW!
Thanks! But, I didn't see it listed in the MacJams list of catagories. I
started to edit the genre of this song when I read your post, but then I
realised that dark wave didn't exist for an option, which is too bad.
That's a pertfect genre! MacJams needs to add that to their list, for
sure. Thanks again, man! Love those compliments!!! Peace!

Nice track!
I really enjoyed how this flowed along. For you to switch genre's like this
and pull it off is great. I don't know beans about Dark Wave (as N.O.W.
put it), but I'll tell you that I really enjoyed listening to it! Very cool!

Haunting
This is great. The melody keeps peeking out like the glance of a woman
in a veil--each time with a different mood. Love the break in the middle.
Like Drakonis, I didn't like the fade out at the end. Can't wait to hear
what you do to this later.

To Mikey_D!
Thanks so much! I'm not really too familiar with dark-wave, but I guess
I hit it on the nose with this track. I'd like to make more like this, just
so I've got something mellow to have on in the background. It's been
fun in the making and tonight, I think I've implemented most, if not all,
of Drak's suggestions. I tweaked with the levels a bit too and I think it's
ready for the vocals. I can't wait for those! It should take it to the next
level, I think. I wish I could post my re-worked version, but still keep
the comments of THIS version. Hmmmmmm.......

Thanks again for the great words, Mikey_D! I'll talk to you soon! Take
care! Peace!
