Description:
Here is a track that I've been wanting to write for some time now, but never had any ideas until recently. The music for this, just kind of happened. The music was written in a few hours one night then quickly posted to MacJams. I was informed about a week later, that Moorlandt's amazing voice would go perfectly with this. I agreed completely!
When I contacted Walter to see if he could offer his voice to this track, he asked me if I had any ideas/inspiration for this song. I hadn't at the time, but I HAD intended on writing a track about the Black Dahlia murders from 1947. He said "Perfect!". So, two days later, he had written the lyrics and put them so very well to my music. I was impressed at his speed and ability. I can't thank him enough for lending his voice to this track, when I know he's got so many other collabs in the works. I am very fortunate to have had him do this.
I want to thank Moorlandt (for obvious reasons), Rob (for suggesting Walter to put his vox on this), Drakonis (for giving me great input on my original posting and listening to the various incarnations of this track until it was good enough to post here) Oh! And Drak's daughter for really digin' this track. : )
If you're interested in more info on the Black Dahlia, I've included a link to the Apple site so you can watch the movie trailer about this subject.
Hope you all enjoy! Peace!
P.S. There are no loops what so ever on this track. All music is created, sequenced and arranged by me. The lyrics and vocals are courtesy of Moorlandt, which I think he's done a fantastic job with!

Lyrics & Vocals by - MoorlandtMusic by - Boris Luxx
Cold and bitter chronicle
So horrible, the crime remains unsolved
No truth appears in sixty years
She was young and beautiful
So pitiful, her gruesome tragic death
Immortalised Elisabeth
Mostly dressed in starlet clothes
Dyed black curly hair
About her overwhelming splendour
She was well aware
No man could resist temptation
Following her track
Leading to her fatal fortune
She comes in black
When she’s turning back
She comes in black
She was young and beautiful
So pitiful, her gruesome tragic death
Immortalised Elisabeth
No man could resist temptation
Following her track
Leading to her fatal fortune
She comes in black
When she’s turning back
She comes in black

in so many ways... I love the way you reworked this music to be even
more beautiful. And Walter's great lyrics, choices of singing, harmonies,
and spine-tingling whispers, and wonderfully mysterious-sounding
accent... they all come together to make the perfect song. Immediately
faved and downloaded! This really hits my goth-spot! :-)
ttfn,
Drakonis
PS - For some reason, the "regular" trailer doesn't work on Apple's site,
but the HD-trailers do. The trailer creeped out my daughter, and now she
wants to see it.

Very nice combination of music/vocals and lyrics. As usual I really
enjoyed Walter's vocals - especially the harmonies. This has a kind of
Ultravox sound to me - a good thing. I'm always amazed at how well
Walter can write in English - it's more than just being able to speak it,
it's his control and expression of ideas. Great sound base Boris, and a
clever colab - well done!

You both did a great job on this.
I have some comparisons in mind ..)
But I will say nothing because this is so cool - everyone should have his
own imaginations about it.

I used to listen to a lot of German darkwave. This reminds me of a lot of
that.
Well written, well produced.
I am listening on my laptop speakers, so the vocals seem a bit low, but
that could very well be me.
It's a yummy cut. Reminds me of Attrition, Libach, and a lot of that era.

I knew this would come out great and it did!
The scores on this should be at least high 8's
I voted 9999
Great collab. Great Vision!
This was great. Walter's vocals fit the sound of this track perfectly. I think the 2 of you should work out and e.p. together, because you two make a great team. My hat is off to both you, and Walter! Bravo!!!
Wildcat
Walters Vocals fits very well to this dark, mysterios sound.
You both did great with this song.
vbluesky
good production / mixed well. I have always loved Peter Murphy and Bauhaus and this style reminds me of that type of feel. all of you who were involved in this song rock...the vocals and the sound go very good together...thanks 4 the jam

Possibly my fav Moorlandt to date. An impossibly rich synthonic
texture of moody background tracks. In paticular the voice pads lend
themselves very nicely to this piece. You guys should do a truckload of
this
atonalis
does have a darktech type of feel. super transitions and orchestration. of course, walters performance is stunning.

Good production: mix is sweet- I'd consider dropping the breathy
strings just a tad (until the end where it is fitting to be a bit louder),
great singing, lyrics - ideal match I think.
Nice use of the harpsichord style sound for a touch of Adams family
creepiness too.
... reminds me a bit of Depeche Mode, which 'ain't a bad thing.
Well done chaps.

WOW! I am REALLY overwhelmed with the incredible response we've
gotten on this track. I really wish that the reply feature was working
right now. I want to thank ALL of you on a more personal basis, but I
don't have much choice. So, I'll thank all of you this way.
Thanks sooooo much for your wonderful comments and support for
this track!

Boris, you made a wonderful track, man. It was a real pleasure for me to vocalise this.
Although... not an easy task. I started on Saturday morning, did lots of desktop research on Elisabeth Short (The Black Dahlia). Even discovered some very gruesome photos of her corps, cut in two halves, her mouth sliced from ear to ear... oh boy, I nearly quit on it, believe me.
Creating the vocal melody was the hardest part. With only two main chords in the song (am I right, cause I'm not an pro musician...?). On one hand it's dangerous to fall into the trap of monotonous singing, on the other hand it leaves a lot of space for variety as well. I hope I chose the second path :-)
On Saturday evening, I was desparate, not having put one single word on paper. So I dived into red wine and too much smokes. But it all came out on Sunday morning... I sent my wife and kids away for a long walk (yeah, that kind of man I am sometimes), and in those three quite hours, I wrote all the lyrics and did the vocal recording. The mixing took me another two hours. So I could send you the file at around 15:00 local time. You were probably dreaming of angels meanwhile, haha!
You know, when I was not that much fascinated about the subject you gave me, I could never have done it in this short timeframe. So, I'm much obliged to you, my friend. Reading these wonderful comments here above satisfies me completely. Thanks again Boris for this very interesting weekend trip :-) So much more fun and definitively cheaper than a lazy weekend on the beach. Haha!

very passionate.....and harrowing.....a state of suspense with just the right
amount of strained shock....production is great and the story is delivered
in such a perfectly weeping lament....love the choral pads that whisp their
way into the picture....great collab....do more!!!!

This is really excellent, wonderful collaboration, hard to imagine how , in
reality two disperate elements can come together so perfectly. Previous
posters suggested various influences, that influence I find most apparent
is David Sylvian of Japan. Walter has a brilliant deep rich texture to his
voice and it really shows here. Fantastic Song Guys.

Really sets a mood, doesn't it? Walter, your vocals go perfectly with the music, with your low tones and cool accent. This is an excellent composition expertly assembled, great job guys!
wildkingdom
melodies and a 80's drum sound, this is a good track.Very Depeche Mode influenced, great collab, you two sound excellent together

Boy! I never would have thought that this track would attract this many
hits or this kind of response! Thanks everyone!! Also thanks to: stevel,
springclock, willywagga, perpetualvortex & wildkingdom! Moorlandt
thanks you all as well!!! We're so glad that this track has been so well-
recieved!
Moorlandt, I didn't realise that you had actually written the lyrics and
sung in just 3 hours. WOW! I am even MORE impressed with you! From
the sounds of it, most of our fellow MacJammers feel that we are a
great combination. I know that you are very busy, but when I write
more tracks like this, I'd like to keep them on the back burner until
you're ready to collab again. No rush and, of course, I don't want you
to feel obligated. Your voice IS truly amazing and very fitting to this
style. I believe willywagga mentioned that your voice reminds him of
David Sylvian; that's a VERY good thing! I can see where he would
think that. You should give yourself a great big pat on the back for
being able to accomplish so much in such little time. Bravo Walter! I
look forward to many more collabs with you in the future. Be well my
friend! Peace!

MissChaos
this would fit so well on a few of my 90's CDs here. You create a perfectly
morbid mood with this. I love the vocals (watch the "S" hiss on the
microphone, though). And you know that I love the choral tracks. Kudos
on the depth and layering of sounds! I'd love to hear an industrial remix
of this, a la Packosmokes, Stun Nutz, etc. Or even a trip hop remix... The
possibilities are endless. Fantastic collab, you two!
borisluxx
Thanks so much for stopping by for a listen. We arre very prod of this track,
to
say the least. Walter did an AMAZING job! Jeesh! I just made the music, he did
the hard part. I credit Walter for breathing life into this track. It's one of my
favourite tracks of mine/ours. :-) I really value your comments, Miss C. An
industrial or techno mix of this would be awesome! I never thought of that.
Thanks! I'll have to work on that. It might be a while tho. But I'll get it done
eventually. It sounds like a fun project!
I think I originally set out to do a track based on the Black Dahlia about 4
months ago, but it kind of just fizzled out and it wasn't anything I would EVER
post. It came out aweful. I tried again, and this is the result. Drakonis made
some great suggestions of which I employed. His suggestions made a very
big differance, I think. It really brought it to the next level. Then Walter was
suggested to put vocals on it.......well......by doing that, I was amazed,
shocked and many other things, that it sounded so great. Some very minor
tweaking needed to be done with the vocals, but it only took less than 1 min.
Thanks again for checking this out and your great comments. As you already
know, I really enjoy your work as well. Take care! Be well, Miss C! Peace!

Well, this is a real spooky little song, reminds me of my 80's Goth years.
lovely production and arrangement - the waltz time also really works for
this. I also like the low whispered voices (quite like Andrew Eldritch) - all
in all, a great little tune. Great work guys.
borisluxx
Thank you very much Echoroom! I like your comparison to Andrew Eldridge! I Love Sisters Of Mercy! Take care, man!

Boris Luxx...I was looking around on MacJams looking at your songs
And I have to say...they are of top notch quality
This one I came across...under the most listen to songs of the day or
whatever
I'd like to say that everything is great
And the vocals are fantastic too
Very neat!

The lyrics are stunning. I love the harmonies on the vocals. The texture of the vocals is also a nice feature.
I love the break down with the haunting background "voices" very nice. You totally have control of the mood of this song.

echoesbleeding! Thank you so much for stopping by to have a listen to our nice and creepy track! Believe it or not, the music was written in just a few hours (or less). I think Moorlandt did a fantastic job on the vocals, as well. Glad you enjoyed it! Take care! Be well!

However, this is very good again. Brings back memories from the first
GOTH scene back in Europe back in the 80's, which are still I big part of
who I am today, as well as how I write my music. This is an awesome
testament of the fact that a good and needed music will always remain -
the lyrics are really good, they tell a story. Thanks /M

This really is an exceptional piece, I'm not at all surprised by the wonderful response you've had to it. Moorlandt's singing is sublime. The instrumentation is lush and dynamic. I love the lilting quality it has, almost like a secondary tempo weaving through the regular beat.
First class performances and very impressive all round.
