Lyrics
Singer

as the singer discretely hums
the needle joins the seams
the fabric of the schemes that the music becomes

as the photons fade
i find i cannot sleep
we cannot keep all the promises we've made

the wellness i feign
every day of the weak
in the words that i speak to escape the pain

we never guessed
as the footlights fade
the scripts that we made for the time we have left

still the singer discreetly hums
and we cannot yet sleep
so remember to keep what the music becomes

hey RoB
i couldn't find a way to make the voice come from the back, yet be in the
front at the same time. but i did add a tad of reverb, and fixed up the
abrupt ending...

hope you like it

front 2 back
have you tried or do you record with several vocal mic's, 2 positioned at left and right rear and 1 or 2 mic's front center, and while mixing play around with the automatic panning and volume effects, also copy as many vocal tracks as you can onto your song, then share them to itunes and reapply them to a new or current song/track. Sometimes I use a bi-audio mic head set that I made from seeing one online.also if you record in logic pro try using the 5.1 mixing effects.....

re: front 2 back
*blush* my vocal recording setup is fairly primitive.

i did this one by: printing out the lyrics, shutting off the computer (to
remove background noise), turned on my m-audio microtrack 24/96,
recorded several takes using the T-mic that came with it.

then i transferred the recordings into GarageBand and cut and spliced
it to pick out the best takes on each phrase, and tweaked the timing
the best i could. i also used compression, and EQ to bring out the voice
better. and rode the gain on it as well.

but that's it. so far, my interest has been in GB instruments. so i had
not invested much into mics or anything. i did recently buy that m-
audio recorder, but mostly to record ambient sounds. it turns out it
works nice for poetry readings too. perhaps i could record real vocals
as well using it, but i'm not sure how hard syncing it will be.

sounds like something i should try. wish i could actually sing!

thanks for posting! hope you liked the song.

Eclectic, at best. I learned some music theory at school, and read a ton about it since. I've listened to lots of music over the years. I once played guitar in an actual garage band and actually got paid to play! Once. Although live performance is an... [see more]
